I think the regulated price for landline service is actually far too low for most companies to make a profit offering it. If the price of the service was allowed to rise so that the costs of keeping it running could be recouped, then you'd see less neglect of old copper lines.
Yeah when I had landline the prices would creep up every couple of months seemingly...I guess I ran into att fanboys...Woops! Im done here.
