Question about Home Run wiring

I'm going to be installing a 'home run' set up for my DSL fairly soon, but I have a question about the wiring. I have an indoor POT splitter and I'm wondering if it's OK to run the wire from the NID almost all the way to the other side of my house before attaching it to the splitter (The location of both the phone jack and modem in my house happen to be on the opposite side of the house from where the NID is located). Really, I'm just wondering if the splitter should be installed as close as possible to the NID, or if it really doesn't matter. For me, it will just be a difference as to how many lines I will have to run across the house. Thanks for any help!

I would do that.......
You only need to ensure that all other devices connect to the filtered output of the splitter
