[Phish] Phish identification tips

Enrolled in a hotel promotional rewards program and recently received a related email credit rewards card offer that I am inclined to accept, can't match that offer on the web.

The email has a big "Apply Now" button that takes me to an online form that has a reputable company name and my zip code in the URL. I can't find any reason to doubt the email offer's legitimacy, but how can I be sure?

Read the email headers, or post them with your personal info redacted if you are unsure on decoding them.

Also call the sender and verify that they indeed sent this offer...
