Re: [Golf] Tiger wins today; Masters advertisers & network happy He didn't look so good to advertisers yesterday, swearing and kicking his club.
quote: Amid the staid confines of golf's most hallowed grounds, Woods acted like a petulant teenager who wasn't getting his way. He cursed wayward shots, hung his head after missed putts, and took mock swings in anger. To top things off, he kicked his 9-iron about 15 yards on the 16th teebox after badly missing yet another shot.

| reply to fatness Guess a Tiger doesn't change his stripes after all, because such behavior is no different from that of the 'old' Tiger.
I was watching online, the 'featured group' with Woods and Bae and Jimenez. I admit I was pointing and laughing a lot on the back nine, because Woods' course meltdowns are so damned entertaining to watch. Yep, he's an embarrassment to himself and the game when he pulls such shennanigans. Neither of those other two guys were exactly setting the course on fire, btw-- yet I didn't hear any cussing or see any over-the-top histrionics from them.
Woods is 'spayshul'. And has the same attitude he's always had-- towards himself, the media, and the public. The only difference is in his play-- that he's so rarely anywhere near the leaderboard come Sundays anymore. And he has one less wife, and several less sponsors.
Maybe I'll get to point and laugh some more this afternoon. On the other hand, Woods is still capable of shooting 65 or 66 and putting himself right back in the mix for another green jacket. Either way, I know I'll enjoy it. |

He was on the road to becoming the greatest player in the sport of golf. People that had never cared for golf tuned in just to see him.
Then he made it all fall apart for himself. He's lost everything. He's a sideshow act now. -- "The level of sacrifice that you give is beyond my comprehension. | Btw-- before we get too all wrapped up in the Tiger thing, let's point out a couple of other stories at this Masters: 52 year-old Fred Couples tied for the lead and trying to win his second green jacket twenty years after his first.
Jason Dufner also tied for the lead-- the complete golfing nobody who blew a five shot lead with four holes to play at last year's PGA Championship.
Rory McIlroy right back in the hunt-- leading by four shots after last year's Masters third round, then shooting 80 on Sunday.
If any of those three were to win, it would be a great story. Tough not to pull at least a little bit for Dufner. I'll also bet that if Dufner should stink it up on the weekend, he still doesn't scream out cuss words or throw/kick any clubs. |

Tiger Woods apologized. Sort of. He behaved better. Sort of. None of it made much difference.
"I apologize if I offend anybody by that, but I've hit some bad shots. It's certainly frustrating at times not to hit the ball where you need to hit it. I certainly heard that people didn't like me kicking the club.
"But I didn't like it, either," he added. "I hit it right in the bunker. Didn't feel good on my toe, either."
Ditto for his reputation. Does the network really care? Probably not - they still get viewers even if Tiger is a jerk. |
