[RI] Disconnects random intervals

Getting frustrated. As the title says, getting disconnected from the net. Sometimes it lasts an hour before disconnecting, other times it's every 10 minutes. Have had digital TV completly freeze for 20 minutes at a time. Online games are out of the question, and browsing the net is painful, never know when a page will just not load. Have reset router and modem but it did not help. Internal network stays up and all computers can still reach each other, so it is just the internet access that goes down. Also, since the TV also goes out, that should pretty much rule out the cable modem or other network hardware, is this correct?

Seeing others in the cox forums on thier site reporting the same issues as well. So what have they done recently to kill our connections?

from what you are posting you have very poor signal. Your downstream is on the high side and the modem is ranging trying to find am upstream carrier

have you had a tech out?

I agree, Tech. The Rx is bad, but that DS SNR is absolutely horrid. Not even sure how the modem is online with it that low. What are your signal levels when your "not" having a issue? Are you looking for advice to isolate signal issue yourself? If not, get that tech ASAP.

I just replaced my modem this afternoon with a Motorola SBG6580.

This is what the connection looks like now.

I have a ping to my server at work being written to a log file with time stamps, so if it goes down I will have a record of it. I am hoping the new modem may fix it, but since the digital TV was going out as well, I am not counting on it. If I see a bunch of diconnects in the log tonight, next step is to get a tech out to look at it.

One thing I have noticed that is a little odd, there has been a Cox service van parked in the lot for my condo several times in the past few days. Have to wonder if a neighbor has been having issues as well.

Did the new modem fix your issues? If it wasn't the modem, would you please let us know what was wrong with your connection? I have been getting crappy speeds over the last few months and was advised to get a new modem. I bought a new modem and the disconnects have increased. This past Wednesday, I had 7 disconnects in 4-5 hours.. On Thursday, I had 0 over a 5-6 hours period. Tonight(Friday) I've have 5 disconnects in about an hours. I keep getting told my signal is poor. I've done everything in their faq and nothing has worked... Still waiting for them to look at their end...

I'm also having random disconnects since Friday morning 4/13/12.
Modem logs were perfect up till then, and now its T3 timeouts and
DHCP fails, with modem reboots. I don't have a router, and TV seems fine. SB5101U modem
