Re: [game] Newbie F11

Here is the deal. I had a bunch of stuff going on at work and I thought I saw a vote pattern of drew backing up another player and jumped on it without really reviewing things. My mistake. What I was mostly trying to avoid was a lull like in the last game where nothing was happening for long stretches (maybe that is normal though?). I wanted to continue the banter and so forth but was careless in doing so.

With regard to drew's vote calling me out, to me (inexperience noted), it seemed like a very fast vote without a request for more info. You've voted for me, but at also asked for an explanation. His vote seemed more like this:

"Hey, look at that major mistake, let's hurry up and lynch him".

It seems that it is working as well. That is how I read his vote and thus why my vote is on him as I suspect him trying to get a rush to judgement on me.

Your vote on the other hand, seems like a follower vote and not as suspect in my mind, although that would be a good mafia play as well. Obviously I need to learn the general methods at work here because everyone has different styles.

I guess this is my style evolving too.

My mistake was just a mistake of being too careless in reading what was happening and trying to keep the discussion moving and my vote on drew was one of my own gut feel in reading what I think was his play on me.

You can keep your vote on me if you like but hopefully that explains things better.

Off topic, tough loss for the Bucs yesterday, can't score any runs. Big game tonight though!

You're new and we didn't cover this topic in the last game.

Common strategy to vote someone and see how they react.

Let's just say that you've reacted ... poorly.

Pirates. I noticed his avatar was the Pirate logo. Penguins play tonight. That was the reference to the big game. No conspiracy theory. I just live in the same area.

So, Brom, you feel that Dunga's action (mistake) warrants bringing him to L-1?

While I appreciate the sentiment, this is exactly what I would do if I was mafia. Since I suspect you, you are stepping up in a lukewarm defense of me to act more town like.

Again, my theory only, just sayin...

I'm pretty sure I only brought him to L-2, and yes I feel that it was warranted.

And Dunga, while drew's vote may have been fast from your point of view, it didn't put you in any real danger of being lynched yet. That's also a reason why I voted, because your reaction to an L-3 vote seemed off to me.

This is what I am seeing, It is an overreaction to a vote that is not putting him on danger.

While me know both Dunga and forty are still "newish" i don't believe that gives them a free pass, all the opposite the voting from the older players will show them what reactions are "scummy" like and to be careful with their posting. Here even a bad bold formatting or a super quick vote can get you lynched.

My vote stands right now.

Aha! That was a bit of a light bulb moment for me. I never thought of that aspect of the game.

I just see a vote as a vote other than the hammer vote. I see your point now. I felt like any vote has meaning and reacted accordingly. I see your point now about the significance or lack of based on how close the vote places you to an actual lynch.

I also do not want or expect any leniency for being new. You may choose not to vote based on a mistake because I am new and you are uncertain if my mistake was real or fake or whatever. But, don't keep me alive just because I am new and you think I should get to play longer or something like that.

I was just about to ask...

You're paying enough attention to vote night and then clarify the mod's mistake, but don't feel compelled to discuss Dunga other than a "Lynching noobs day one isn't nice. Dicks." comment?

I am using the "watch" mode of viewing the thread which places newest on top. Good idea or no?
