[Cataclysm] Opinion: Rogue Legendary Daggers are Fail
I saw this posted on another site and wanted to share it. PLEASE NOTE : this is not my opinion and I dont have the daggers (the only legendary i have is the Bow).
All around the daggers just suck.
I just got my daggers last week and it was the most underwhelming feeling ever. You think that getting a legendary would be a exciting event and it would make you feel accomplished and powerful, instead I felt like i just got handed a blue quest item in the most anticlimactic way.
First of all getting the daggers are joke easy. Sure it takes you like 3 months or so to actually collect all the materials but its super easy and you have to put in no effort at all. There is nothing of any real difficulty throughout the whole questline except for the 2 events where you have to walk around stealthing and solo some easy bosses. While the idea of the solo bosses was fun, everything in the quest that had to do with raiding was stupid easy.
Second, you need 333 gems that you get from breaking down larger clusters and then you do the exact same thing except get 60 large clusters without breaking them. The only thing you have to do is kill bosses in Dragon Soul just like you always do. Nothing changes. Nothing special happens at all through the whole questline inside of DS. The questline was so stupid I was totally clueless as to what I was supposed to during the final portion of my quest when I had to loot Deathwing and still completed it. It didnt require me to actually know anything about anything, I just got the dagger without having to try to get them, they were essentially handed to me on a silver platter.
Thirdly, there was nothing cool about handing in my quest. I did not feel one bit accomplished about what I have done. Shouldnt I feel accomplished? I mean, probably only around 0.5% of the WoW population probably has it, probably less, but I felt nothing but letdown by Blizzard. I couldnt even have my guild watch me hand in the daggers like the casters could with their legendary. So much for the cool factor. Oh, and when you turn in the quest to the guy, he flys away as a tiny whelp, where is the legion of blue drakes that were in stormwind!?
Oh and not to mention that many people prefer to use the heroic axe off of Deathwing in their mainhand once they get it, what the hell is up with that? Do these things suck that much that people would rather use epics?
Dragon Soul sucking as a raid probably doesnt help. The raid is so god awful I dont know what to do with myself.
Oh well, maybe Ill feel more satisfied when I the next Rogue legendary when Blizzard puts another out . in 2018.
So i knew nothing about the daggers until i read this and did some research. But it seems like all the recent (WOTLK till curent) Legendaries have the same basic out line.
1) Expensive Start 2) 1-2 Special Steps (EX : Do/Dont do this during a boss fight) 3) Loot a million items with Low drop rates (Shards/Cinders) for a quest
= New Orange Item
So i dont understand what the poster is whining about.

he is qqing about theres no event for accomplishing this feat, unlike tarecgosa where the whole of sw or orgrimar knows someone got the staff, that is all. -- Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau! I've lost the bleeps, I've lost the creeps and I've lost the sweeps.
Agreed mostly, except that only one rogue on the raid can get it at a time, there's the huge difference on the caster staff that you could stagger between members.
Yeah it didn't feel anything special getting the daggers way down there isolated from everyone, nobody noticed you got them...
The special proc they have? totally worthless, you have to be really lucky to get them to proc at the right time (say duing a boss burning phase with deep insight proccing).
Most of the time the proc is when you are not dpsing the boss, some examples:
- Morchok black goo phase (exactly when he's pulling you in) - Zon'ozz when melee has to move out - Yor'sahj when you are DPSing oozes or mana void - Hagara on Ice phase or tombed - Ultraxion during Fading/Hour of Twilight - Warmaster is useless the adds die to quicly to build up stacks, when DPSing him you won't get the stacks to make it proc fast enough - Spine you have to be really lucky to have them proc during tendons where it matters - Madness procs at odd times like DPSing bolt or adds.
All of the above at the cost of the Agility buff the stacks provide, so you sacrifice around 600-750 agility for this worthless proc.
For PVP also worthless, considering how fast foes die and how fast you die the proc will never hit (unless you are one on one vs a holy pally or Blood DK), 5 min CD parachute only used rarely, maybe once on AB and that's it.
If the original player who posted that was in the room with me I'd punch him in the nuts.
Cry me a damn river, my shit is not epic enough.
I have no tolerance for this sort of whining. If he didn't like what was offered, why did he bother doing the quest?! I'm sure other rogues in his guild would have loved to have the opportunity. -- /)_/) ( . . ) C(")(") Why do I have this as my signature?
The legendary staff is totally worthless as well. The proc rate is so low that it seems like it never procs, and when it does its usally wasted on a low damage spell you cast. In pvp its near useless. People die so fast and the proc rate is so low that it never helps. Unless you are 1v1 against a Hpally or blood DK. And the ugly mount you get with it, whats up with that? That thing is horrid. I cant believe blizzard made such a god awefull legendary staff.
*People just like to complain. They will about anything. Rogues need to STFU and be glad that they got the oppurtunity to get legendarys.*
In short, it was the ultimate guild destroyer. Nothing in the history of man itself has brought as much drama as that goodie bag. -- flickr | 'Cause I've been waiting, all my life just waiting For you to shine, shine your light on me
still falls horribly short of being the "epitome" of "worst idea in the world".
They just didn't execute it well (what was in the goodie bag, and how it got distributed). Legendary quests should "end" while in a raid group. all members present get a goodie bag, commemorating the event and acknowleging the efforts of the group to help the one person get his/her/its legendary.
I agree the entire premise for the daggers was dumb. I still believe the only reason they added the story line in was because at the begining of the xpac no one wanted to play a rogue. For the large part of cata they were underplayed. Insert orange item here, and instantly the rogue population exploded.
I hated the grind to obtain them. I found it extremely stupid that unlike Smourne and Tarecgosa's completeing H encounters had no benefit on collecting the materials. Trade chat allstars were completeing them faster than 8/8h 10 man guilds which is completely stupid. My guild really had no feel of accomplishment. I actually missed our main raid and obtained my daggers after a late night Friday trade DW kill. Honestly there was no real sense of accomplishment. I was happier to get the MH glaive that alluded me all of BC and Wrath.. ohwell
Honestly I'm not sure its entirely the legendaries being boring, but rather the state of the entire game. I got my oranges about a month ago and now I can't bring myself to want to log in.. Tera can't come soon enough..
I was always frustrated by people doing the same, but that was in a 25 man guild where there were other options than said person. Well I've been in a 10 man guild this entire xpac. We have had upto 3 rogues at any point during the xpac. 1 rogue has quit 3 times, I has quit twice and is terrible, and then there was me having played since BC release only disappearing for deployments.
I still log in for our 1 night clears, but I feel like its a chore more than I want to play. I only do it to hang out with my pals. I still top meters, and take no extra dmg. My entire guild is basically burntout. Everyone is just waiting for the next big titles. Tera/GW2/D3(eww)
yeah... i'll edit it shortly... I got the response I was looking for... but didn't expect it from the Cpn.
I was being totally tongue-in-cheek, you winged fool of a kitten!
@Arsinic- this is the problem with getting 8/8h (or equivalent) relatively early. There's a big, "ok, so what's my goal NOW?" impulse.
Our legendary rogue contents himself with gunning for spec #1s. He's actually pulled a couple, so that's a realistic goal for him. Other folks who aren't as driven have a lot more of an issue. We've had recruit a bit to keep going, as we don't want TOO long a raiding pause before MoP- we've found if you knock off raiding too early, it's hard to get guild cohesion back quickly when the new content hits. -- "This whole thread needs more nut-punching." -Drew
