Doesnt take to long to get that way when your dealing with the one i do. I actually started driving the extra distance to one that isnt as bad. I drive past that one and go to the next one. Of course if you get a certified letter or a delivery that requires signature you really dont have a choice. You just bite your tongue and curse them under your breath as you wait in line.]]></description>

However, if you go to the Post Office no more than 15 minutes before closing time all stations are manned at that time and you will get served very quickly even if there are 20 people in line when you walk in. Just "un-roll" them next time (which really does nothing more than verify that all of the coins <i>are</i> U.S. currency, as opposed to plugs or currency from other countries--Canada for example). If they still refuse, then refer them to the Department of the Treasury and/or the Federal Reserve.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[David posted : lots of banks (even credit unions) have coin counting machines these days. For a credit union if you have $5 in a savings account it's pretty much free for GCS (granite city steel) members and the coin counting machine is in the lobby. If you are a non-member then you pay a coin counting fee. No, her excuse was that they had too much change already on hand, and since they can't use it up fast enough when giving customers change and they can't send it in to their central warehouse to be deposited <i>they just don't want more coins. </i><br><br>I've run into the <i>must have your name / address on them</i> thing going back a long time ago with my bank, so I had a rubber stamp made with that info on it and all my coin rolls are stamped with it.<br><br>I don't know what kind of cashier training they get, but many years ago when I worked in retail if we had too much change in the drawer we just used it up a little at a time when giving customers their change. If all the cashiers did this all day long they could make a real good dent in the pile of coins by the end of the week.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[shortckt posted : The post office clerk refused to accept rolled coins when I went in to buy stamps. And there wasn't anyone else in line. At that time of the morning the place was empty. Of course all the post offices (at least in this area) did away with the stamp vending machines a few years ago.<br><br>The clerk's excuse was that all post offices deposit the day's cash/checks by sending it to a central USPS warehouse where it is handled and deposited, but they can't send in coins, only paper!  Therefore each post office keeps and must use all their own change.<br><br>After much pleading the clerk let me buy ONE lousy book of stamps ($9.00) with one roll of dimes and two rolls of nickels.<br><br>It's ironic... a US Government Agency, and one of the oldest in existence, didn't want US currency. The clerk said if I don't like it I should complain to Congress. Remind me again why the post office is losing money?]]></description>
