[Rant] I don't like dealing with fraud depts....Seems someone walked into a store in Cleveland and put an iPad on my Verizon account.... They did not purchase the iPad - they added service for it.
At least the credit report is clean so far...
Fairly impressed with their fraud dept - spent less than 3 minutes with the 1st tier before they handed me off to the fraud dept. They called the store this evening to have the store manager investigate and already issued credits (verified online). |

Probably an inside job. |

It was decidedly odd - especially since a refund was immediately created on the day it was added. Would love to get a copy of the signature. Password has been changed though and they sent information to the 3 credit reporting agencies as well. Did not have anything on Transunion report but will have to keep an eye out.
Maybe pay for service on a random account with a stolen credit\debit card or bad check, then issue credit in cash? |

Something similar happened to a co-worker.
The company was Telus. All they said is "Call the police, we can't do anything about it." |

Maybe because how easy it was to do. if you got really good people skills you can bluff your way through with just the victims phone number and they're none the wiser until a steep overage bill arrives the next month. |

Seems to me that you should be "Rave"ing about VZW's fraud department. |

Not sure about call center and higher up but retail level can't. (Where I work is an authorized Verizon reseller in addition to computer break/fix repair & networking, etc..) |

The last time I added a line of service (at a corporate store) the only information the CSR asked for was the phone number for the primary line. Never did they ask for ID or any other identifying information to prove I was either the account owner or authorized to add/change services. Not to mention, the service counter area offers absolutely no privacy. It's not too comforting to know the person just a few feet down the counter who is begging to have their service restored for non-payment can hear every word of my conversation. Thank goodness nearly all of my contact with VZW is either online or via telephone. I'm guessing this kind of crap happens all the time and the fraud department is used to it. |

That's what I think too. |
