Did people expect lifetime support or something?
If remaining XP users really don't want to plunk down the cash for a copy of Windows 7 (or 8, assuming it isn't a ME/Vista v2.0), then most any distro of Linux should have full hardware support by now for systems that shipped with XP on them.
