Re: [Rave] Thanks Justin for bringing this site back up

The tab just for the lab recovery fee is $28,000. That doesn't include the new equipment that must now be purchased, checking the data the lab has found to be intact up to the moment of the power outage and then taking the site down again to integrate it, etc. Nor does it include the lost traffic and traffic that may never come back. I hope all this doesn't cause the site to lose Google page rank permanently.

I think we are all glad that the site is back but I think a main reason it is back (with this kind of price tag) is because of Google page rank and not because Justin loves us all so much (not saying he doesn't love us...but who would spend $28,000 just in lab recovery fees for a hobby, personal site)?

Yes, I'm glad to see it back up. Now let's hope someone doesn't trip over the extension cord, again!

Indeed: it's a business. (which isn't to say I don't enjoy it).

I have no idea how the linked guesstimate matches reality...

Thanks dude!!! I don't know if the site would have ever come back if it wasn't for your request.

Keep up the good work buddy!

Very few "personal sites" i know of bring in ~$1300/day in ad revenue.

Hopefully uid 1 realizes RAID isn't a replacement for a good backup plan[he got damned lucky this time!]

It's been a while. I hope that will not happen again. Everybody's back!
