Yes. Sounds like I will avoid Dell arrays at all cost. I too have had issues with Dell servers but not on this scale.

No RAID issues here 
I've been planning to build a RAID array for the past year, I think I'll go with unRAID. And I'll complement it with CrashPlan+ just in case!
