[FireFox] FireFox 13 nag screen

Nag hag! >:-(
Is anyone else here tired of the pop-up you get whenever you start FireFox 12 on an older computer? For me it's getting really annoying and according to ...

I'm not alone.

Anyone here getting this pop-up and are by it?

What is an older comp for you? The most ancient I have is XP and there is no pop up

Get a linix distro, and hope it runs. That's a really antiquated computer, and the operating system hasn't been supported in years. If this is your only computer the price you're paying for internet per month exceeds the value of the machine.

No problem, the price I pay for gas per month exceeds the value of my car.

This looks good, but it's mostly to run W2K & XP on a W98 machine. Will this work on W2K? Also, is there a patch to let XP only programs run on W2K?

You'd think with both OSs being so old they'd let W2K owners upgrade to XP for free. After all it's bumping NT 5.0 to 5.1 while Windows 7 (6.2) is out.

Kind of a different analogy there, IMO.

I have 2 computers that are newer (PIII 600-800mhz/512-768MB ram) and I can't give them away. They were built for XP as well.
They'll probably go to the Goodwill.

You apparently live in a very small town in a fairly remote part of SoCal, but still no reason you can't find a decent used computer for under $100 on CL or Ebay that would be modern enough to run FF12 and a modern OS.

I'm poor and I found a nice "older" C2D that makes me happy while the PIII's gather dust and my two single-core P4 2.8ghz comps rarely get used anymore. No need to hook up all that crap when I can run an XP VM faster and better with newer hardware. Plus, it saves on a lot of power.

Life's too short to fiddle with things just because your computer is too old.

Why? As long as it has enough speed for the programs you run, and you can still get security programs -- You are not into social networking, don't do porn, click on every link you see.

I might just leave the computers alone and use an android tablet that I can root for web use. Computers would stay connected to download files for software I own.

I've had mine built and upgraded just to avoid all the crap that makers think I want. When the laptop no longer can get security, it will be switched to Linux.
