Those are older cable boxes and they do have limited memory capabilities in regards to guide data. In order to get more guide data to display, I would recommend that you exchange your cable boxes for a DCT 700 or anything other than a DCT 2000. A newer cable box has more memory and will display more days out of guide listings data. All of our DVRs show about 13-14 days worth of guide data. I wouldn't assume that. Comcast can program the X1 guide to respond to a button that is on an older remote but missing from the XR2 remote if it wants to. It may depend on the function of the button. Well, in the description for the XR2 remote, it does say "there are fewer buttons so you can quickly find the functions you're looking for," and I do see that there are a few buttons missing, such as "FAV" and "HD Zoom," from the XR2 compared to the Platinum remote. Those functions appear to be accessed from inside the new on-screen guides (2.0 and 3.0) themselves. If you have a RNG150N/RNG200N you won't need a new remote when the guide eventually gets pushed to the box (That is if they still have plans to update the boxes OTA). The existing remote will work fine. The new remote is only for the next boxes.

I wonder what R&D would say. The DTA remote that comes with the Pace and Thompson DTA gear controls the RNG200N and the Platnium RNG200N remote control the Pace and Thompson DTA gear, so maybe the same can be said with the new remote?

I didn't think any of those were available in our area yet. From that webpage on the XR2 Remote: The new XR2 Remote Control is rolling out with Comcast set-top boxes running the latest version of the on-screen guide - On-Screen Guide 3.0 (X1 Guide) and On-Screen Guide 2.0 (Barcelona), and with High-Definition (HD) Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) devices.
