What a year....
Just wanted to check in and say hi.
It's been an absolutely crazy year (just busy... hence my complete absence lol.... not like you cared... or noticed jk)
Started off in August in which the head of our math department retired suddenly. This put me in a nice position as I finally got to teach some kids that actually wanted to learn math lol. I got to teach Calculus, Pre-Calc/Trig, and Algebra II.... but I still had my Alg I and Pre-Algebra kids, so I have had to prep 5 classes of materials each week.
Along with this, I went back to coaching football after taking a couple of years off. And I bought a house in October.
So since then it has been a steady dose of work, coming home (6 PM during football) and doing the homework I was assigning (or at least trying to work ahead) making tests, making worksheets, doing test keys (gotta grade them right? lol) .. and of course grading everything I assigned.
So then comes track season in which I did a horrible job of scheduling meets (our AD allows me to schedule meets the way I want since they are not track people)... and we ended up having a stretch of 11 meets (varsity and junior high) in 13 days.
Luckily we didn't have to host our conference championship meet like we have the last 10 years (that is 5 days of pure hell), so I at least got to coach a little bit this part week. I love track but hate having home meets as I never get to see much of my kids' performances.
Ok enough bitching... glad games are still being played... gonna need a distraction this summer as I have been promoted to defensive coordinator.
Take care all and I'll see ya around the end of May.
Sounds like things are going good for you! I was just wondering about you earlier this week (the site was down for a bit, and when it came back they lost the last two years of posts, so I was going down memory lane seeing stuff from people two years ago as top stories).
Anyway, I am glad you stopped by to fill us in.
When I retire, I might teach math. My BS is in Math, I had originally wanted to teach math, but when I did my first in classroom experience, I hated it and dropped the ed part of my degree... as it turns out I train classes for a corporation. go figure.
I often think about looking back to my original plan, but I think it would be too hard at this point in my life to change my career that much, and it would be a cut a pay for me at this point.
oh, and I share no love of sports with you.
wow, too much information.
anyway great to hear from you.

Glad things are going well! I hate math, and have no use for it in my life, but my wife loves it. I forgot everything after Algebra 1 at this point in my life. Sad, really.
Nice that you're coaching football again. Keep kicking ass and we'll see you in some games over the summer.
