1 edit | CPU type and speed is not available in official documentation. But if folks here can supply that info for various models I can add it.
Also whether a unit has FAN or not might be of interest to someone.
What I know: USG 50: CPU CN50xx, no fans USG 200: CPU MPC8343e, no fans
The CPU info can be obtained from CLI> psm atsh |

For USG 100: CPU MPC8343e, no fans
Maybe Anav can get ZyXEL to provide Processor Speed for each model --- its ridiculas that info is not readily and publically available.
Apparently the MPC8343e has clock speeds scaling to 400 MHz so we need to know how ZyXELL configured the CPU speed -- and this applies to all models. -- David Mozer IT-Expert on Call Information Technology for Home and Business |

USG 100: 25 users USG 200: 50 users -- David Mozer IT-Expert on Call Information Technology for Home and Business |

claykin join:2003-08-22 Fort Lauderdale, FL | reply to Brano My USG50 with 3.00BDS2 cannot push more than 90Mb/s through Firewall over wired LAN (LAN2 -> LAN1) or visa versa. When I connect same 2 devices to same LAN, throughput increases dramatically.
I have BWM turned off. CPU does not climb above 42% while transferring a single large file, so the USG50 doesn't appear to be overworked. I think I'm missing something... Any ideas?
I probably should have posted this in its own thread... |

| Can't comment really (ask ZyXEL) but here's what I've heard from ZyXel in various threads. 1) The advertised speeds are both ways, one way speed would be half of that number. 2) The fine print for SPI test from the datasheet says quote: Testing Methodologies: Maximum performance based on RFC 2544 (UDP packets, 1,518 bytes).

 | I don't think we have block diagrams for all modes of the USG. It is plausible that if two ports are assigned to LAN1, the router functions mostly stay out of the way for traffic between them, and much of IPTables' functionality is not used.
I imagine that if the three LAN and one DMZ port were all reassigned to LAN1, the LAN side of the router would act as a somewhat managed switch.

Since the USG20 is not mentioned here what would the "Business Size" be? One or two users perhaps? Most locations that we presently use the older 2+ have only two (2) users. If so, it would appear to be the logical upgrade for those locals (especially since we're on fumes and need to pinch pennies.)
Can we also assume that the CPU for the USG20 & USG20W are the same? Are they basically the same device other than the added WiFi?
Thanks again for such invaluable info! |
