That's them lazy Brits for ya' They're actually a solid 90 minutes of entertainment though. So, think of it as quality over quantity

Well, I recently saw the pilot episode of Sherlock, and I have to say it was amazing!

There's an unaired pilot floating around out there as well; no major plot changes, but some slightly different settings / characters and one or two minor plot deviations. Kind of fun to spot the differences

I've been watching previews on "Revolution." Looks interesting, but I am not sure I can accept it. The premise is that some event changes the laws of physics so that things like electricity don't work. I'm not sure I can suspend my disbelief with this one because if electronic devices stopped working because electricity no longer worked, then lightning wouldn't happen, and the human nervous system wouldn't be able to function.

I could accept something like a massive EMP disabling all existing electronics, but the series suggests that no electronics are possible, this simply isn't possible without drastically changing the laws of physics, so much so that life probably couldn't even exist.

I still might give it a shot.

Revolution sounds roughly like S.M. Stirling's series of books about an event that causes anything high energy to stop working (gunpowder, steam etc). More specifically one of the major storylines in the series.

Anyhow, he didn't try to get in the technicalities of it, just one day poof stuff quit working and through some experimentation basically the people who were trying to figure it out just accepted that the laws of physics did change in ways that made previously constant things variable. Presumably that's how you try and head off "why do nerves still work?".

Fair enough.

Judging from the previews, guns still work, which means that steam power should work as well. You can do a lot with steam power, but we will see how the series develops.

I'll probably check it out after I've finished Season 2.

I have to say that the events at the end of season 1 were pretty cool. I'm watching A Scandal In Belgravia right now and so far it's great. I'm hoping to get through all of season 2 this weekend.

Finished watching season 2 last night.
What a great series. Every episode is like a 90 minute movie with quality writing and acting from everybody.

I love that they had Sherlock try on "the hat" so they could take some pictures.

I'm going to go look for the un-aired pilot episode now.

Yes, it's very very well done throughout.

I think in comparison, Elementary will be a little disappointing but it might do until fall 2013 when we finally get some more Sherlock...

(I love the scene from the royal palace )

That was a great scene in a great episode.
Every time Sherlock was in a room with "the woman" was great too.

I can't believe we have to wait that long for another episode though.

Hopefully Elementary is as good, though I doubt it will be. I guess it will be up to the writing staff, because the cast seems solid.

Haven't checked this out yet myself (BBC's "The Hour") but seems like it would be worth doing so:

»rightsideofthebrian.com/2012/06/···-should/

Often mistakenly compared to AMC’s “Mad Men“, the drama is more John Le Carre‘s Agent George Smiley than Madison Avenue’s Don Draper. It’s a very behind-the-scenes espionage thriller set in Cold War-era England featuring the intertwined stories of a journalist (Ben Whishaw), a producer (Romola Garai), and an anchorman (Dominic West)… all involved in the BBC’s first televised news program.

Annoying, attempts to watch the "trailers" posted, results in This Video is private. Not available in your country. Lovely... I just hope I can see this stuff on xbmc.

Probably because I've posted vids from the official network studio channels.

What happens if search youtube for those show names? Chances are good someone has reposted them without the geo-restrictions in place...

Sorta reminds me of the Priest Kings from the Gor book series. They would only allow certain things to be developed [mostly medical]. Anything else like gunpowder would result in the inventor being blasted by a beam weapon from space.

Or maybe even Anne McCaffery's Dragon Riders series. How the settlers of Pern lost their high tech do to "thread" falling from a passing comet.
