Re: DSLR Restore Progress said by NefCanuck:said by state:That's what we're hoping for. Good luck on a smooth data re-integration. Having done a few small scale restores that involved re-integrated data, I can say that it can be nerve wracking to watch the work and wondering " Will this work right?" NefCanuck On a non-technical level, you mean when it says "Restore complete" and you pray that its there? |

 | reply to state 100% complete or 80% complete, doesn't matter. Either way it goes, I think it will be beer time once it's done. |

Data recovery is almost complete. We should have 100% of data. A little downtime tonight to finish the job. Thanks for your patience !

| reply to IamGimli said by IamGimli:No he doesn't. Incremental backups are notoriously unreliable as a general rule, and rarely ever work for database backups.
Full system backups or, even better, continuous sector-based shadow copy of the volumes are much more robust, reliable backup technologies when used in conjunction with the appropriate database agents.
None of that would have helped anyway in this case unless it was combined with off-site storage of those backups as there's very little backups can help with when a power outage takes out the storage arrays where those backups are stored and prevents them from being usable.
Hence my comment he should get a clue before telling anyone how to run their backups. ^^ what he said. -- Fluent in 3 languages: English, Sarcasm and Sexual Innuendo.

DavesnothereNo-BHELL-ity DOES have its Advantages join:2009-06-15 START&Cogeco kudos:6 2 edits | Did not need to worry about PW, as I had temp set it to what I expected it to be, both before and after the account restore of the other day.
Any things restored the other day remained OK, such as my account itself, and grand total number of posts.
The system did not log me out during tonight's restore/merge.
My Posts & Kudos have returned.
However, my posts, both recent and those from the 2010-2012 restore, were missing my ID on them (Subbed 'Anon'), so I logged out and back in.
Now the problem has resolved.
Not sure that it was MY doing, as it might have just been the database catching up with name tag fields to rebuiild the pages.
Some other folks' posts had their names on them before mine did, and some others (especially REAL Anons) still do not.

Followup Missing IMs are back.
Hot Topics have reverted to what they were just before the outage.
OK guys, a FULL BACKUP, performed a few hours from now, would be big.
Right Now, however, it's MILLER time !
Cheers !

I'll get on that tomorrow though a friend brought over a bottle of Sandbanks while I disinfected his laptop.... so I'm slightly un-motivated to explore the members section of DSLr. |

Ad-Hoc Forum list and link to it from CBB forum front page are restored.
A few anon posts from the past few days still just say 'Anon' next to them (rather than the 'Name' typed in at the time), but hey, if those folks want more, then let them register ! |

Just One thing Missing First, THANKS for all of what was involved for getting the forums etc back.
Anyway, it's the UNIQs stat, located next to each thread title in each forum's front page, to show how many accounts have read it.
Otherwise, I think we're good to go.
EDIT : UPDATE : Only threads created from May 3rd onward seem to have this issue.
Ones restored last night seem OK. |

Are you so important that registered letters need to be sent to you upon application or removal of random IP's that may or may not affect you?
Why are you so afraid of the moderator? And so afraid that you fear he/she will delete what you say? Does it really matter?
Why not create your own forum so people go to you instead? Maybe this will create less fear and anxiety for you?
Or are you mad because DSLr didn't give your ebox a forum for their now 2 whole posts a day?
Do you honestly think your presence here is sought after (ie desired) by the masses? Is you head really that self-inflated? If it is, I would suggest taking more time off till you come back down to earth and the real world.
On the other hand, if you are just crying here and miss posting here since you have no other platform for your self-inflated head, I don't think you will find too many people who are going to come out and yell they desire you. That would be rather gay. |

Now that we have learned the meaning of desire, I hope you can understand that you are the least desirable person to me and likely many others. I mean that in a nice way. Move on and deflate the head. K? thks. |
