 | Using DPC3010 On W.O.W. Was thinking of purchasing my own cable modem to avoid the monthly fee involved with using W.O.W's provided modem. Just wondering, if I purchase the Cisco DPC3010 will I be able to use it on W.O.W. without any issues? |

 | If you dont have UltraTV and don't plan on getting it, you can have your own modem.
Go with the a Scientific Atlanta Webstar 2100r2 (only if you dont have higher than 15 meg speeds). It's the same modem they use thus they can send over their firmware to it. If you have the 30/3 or 50/5 package, you need a docsis 3.0 modem. Someone else can recommend one of those.
I still have mine sitting on a shelf not being used. Have to put it up for sale on ebay one of these days. |

(Which is probably just as well, since they can't even get the Arris configuration files correct, much less the DPC2100r2. I shudder to think of what would happen if they tried to implement CVC and cosigning. Thankfully, that costs too many boxtops.) The DPC3100 can be used on existing D2's though, just has to be provisioned as a DPC2100r2.
Officially the only supported 'non-leased' modem is the Motorola SB6120. Not the SBG, not the SBV, not the 6180 - has to be specifically the SB6120. AFAIK, you cannot get new D2 service regardless of speed. At least that's the way it SHOULD be. But who knows - rest assured, anyone outside of level 2 or 3 support, won't, but will tell you anyway. |
