Chicagoland FOX aspect ratio is wrongI don't know the ins and outs or even the terminology but WOW recently changed how many channels are received. I have SD and now many channels are in letterbox format where they didn't used to be.
One glaring problem is FOX (Ch. 3). No letterbox but the picture is stretched. And sometimes the entire picture is a square box. Certainly not correct. WOWs response is I should adjust my TV. But nothing changed on my TV, it's how WOW is sending the signal. Hoping Dan can let someone know and have it fixed.
Also hoping the pixelation/tiling/freezing issue can finally be resolved. It is better than it was but WOW admits the problem still continues. Not sure why they can't fix it. |

I did notice the image seemed to be cut off a bit on the sides and stretched. We made some changes on our side just now to try and fix it. I believe it looks better here but I think there might be a problem with the feed coming to us from Fox as well. Can you take a look from your side and see if it's any different now. We're still working on getting in contact with Fox to see if something is wrong with the feed. |

This actually should be fixed now, I just needed to wait a few minutes before posting! |

It does seem better. Thanks
What's your take on Ch. 20 (PBS)? Right now the picture is a box with borders all around. Happens on a lot of programs (but not all IIRC). My son watches the educational programming and it definitely is different than it used to be. |

Is your tv 16:9 or 4:3
If it is 16:9 what you are seeing is a SD show broadcast in letterbox. |

Older CRT so I believe it is 4:3.
I can tell which is proper letterbox but with the last change/maintenance it seems as if many channels (mostly the local OTA) now display differently. This PBS is especially bad. Last night whatever they were showing (Masterpiece Theater perhaps) looked like a tiny box on my TV. |

Yea, thats probably 4:3. To be sure we'd have to know what the actual feed from the PBS station looks like. I have seen cases where the local PBS was broadcasting an image that came out that way. Have you considered that it may be time to get a new TV |

What will the little box look like on a new TV? If it's the feed what difference will it make? I'm asking because I don't know. |

Probably still a little box.
But with a new tv you can get the HD feed which should be normal. And if its not normal most new TV's have a aspect ratio control to let you zoom in to the image. |

Sometimes the providers want the channel to appear that way, but it also could be a setting on our side. I will let you know. |
