 | [bug] Log in bug This problem existed long before the site went dark so it's not a bug from the data loss. I can't seem to stay logged in to the site probably because I go back and fourth from my laptop to my iPad. Because of this I have to log into the site often.
When I come to the site and I have to log in I click on the login button at the top of the screen. I am taken to the log in page and I type in my username/password and hit the log in button. I am then taken back to the home page where it appears that I didn't log in. I have to hit the refresh button to get rid of the page with the log in links and I can then see any IMs if they are there.
If I try to log in a second time (instead of hitting F5) I get the message that I must log out first. -- I do not, have not, and will not work for AT&T/Comcast/Verizon/Charter or similar sized company. |

I do not experience this problem. Sometimes I'll get asked to log on when using one of the mobile devices, but there are no issues. Just login and go. -- flickr | 'Cause I've been waiting, all my life just waiting For you to shine, shine your light on me |

I was told this was normal because you cannot be logged in simultaneously on several browsers and several machines. -- When governments fear people, there is liberty. I am often logged in at the same time on an Android smartphone, an iPad, a laptop, & a desktop Windows PC. And they are all using the same IP address thru a router. Sometimes the smartphone will be using a different cell provider IP address. Each device has their own cookie as seen in login history off the members tab.
It is possible if you block cookies on your devices that that may cause you problems. |

I think I recall it is 4 simultaneous logins allowed and no more. -- When governments fear people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson |

I have at least three right now. If you can't do it, then there is possibly something with your own settings not allowing it, not the site. |

Mele20Premium join:2001-06-05 Hilo, HI kudos:4 | Three works. Four is the limit I think I recall from when we have had this discussion in the past. If I go to a virtual machine that is sitting minimized currently and that has Opera and Fx running, both with tabs open to my home page which is dslreports.com/postlist, while having Fx, Opera and SeaMonkey running on the host, all having the same home page, I will find that I am logged out of dslr on at least one of the browsers open on the virtual machine. I didn't log out. I never log out. I get logged out because of too many simultaneous logins.
If I log back in on the virtual machine (so I am logged in on two different browsers there) and I then open IE 8 for some reason (without shutting down the other two browsers), I will have to login here. I do that. I then minimize the virtual machine and maximize another virtual machine that is running with maybe just one browser open on it (with the home page being dslr postlist) and I log in there. I minimize that machine, and go back to the first virtual machine, or I leave it minimized and go back to my host machine. Either way, I will be logged out on at least one browser on the first virtual machine or the host machine.
When I had two physical computers, and several virtual machines, I had the problem also even when I wasn't running a virtual machine but had several browsers open on the two physical machines. Maybe it is an XP thing (and before that a 98SE thing) as the current physical machine is XP and it used to be physical machines running 98SE and XP. I have Vista as well XP guest machines. Maybe when I get a Win 7 machine I won't have this problem? -- When governments fear people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson |
