[Wireless] E1500

Well, after the Reaver extravaganza, I just upgraded my E1500 that had been sitting since Christmas time. I upgraded to the latest Firmware dated 03/28/2012 Ver.v1.0.04 (Build 2). Disabled WPS as the new FW advertises it will do. However, my 150 Mbps wireless speed decreased to 65 Mbps

I purchased a Belkin N150 around the New Year after paper weighting my E1000 trying to load DD-WRT to it. Sadly, the Belkin which costs half of the E1500 is running at 150Mbps.

If anyone has any insight to getting my Linky back up to speed, please share. I've fiddled with the channels to no avail. Presently, I have them on auto (the default settings). It is also in mixed mode since I connect other devices and a G card as well as my N.

you could try flashing dd-wrt on that router. the e1500 is supported now.

...and there you are. If you are using any 11B/G devices on that router, you will not get full 11N connectivity. That is not a shortcoming of the router. To prove that, take your E1500 out of mixed mode, set it to 11N only, and see the difference (of course, you then lose the 11G connectivity)

However, the E1000, E1500 Linksys (as well as the Belkin N150) are all pretty minimal routers, none of them are built or designed for very robust performance.

Amongst the Linksys line, I never recommend below the EA2700 (although the now discounted E2500 is not a bad consideration). The Belkin N150 would be nowhere on my recommended list...

Major router manufacturers have pretty decent offerings, but most of their bottom of the line models are lacking. For $20 to $40 more, you get much more capability, performance, and longevity by stepping up to at least a mid-line model.
