(RAVE) Thanks Comcast!

About a week ago I noticed that my upload speed had dropped from the usual 3~4Mbps to below 1Mbps.

It was horrible.

I pay for 12/2 and I have been getting 16~26Mbps Download with powerboost and 3~4Mbps upload.

I called Comcast and they sent out a really nice guy.

He immediately noticed a problem with my COAX I had added years ago to extend the range of the modem.

The plastic that is to cover the end was receded and inside the connector it had wear and tear.

Then he saw my ubee (formerly an Ambit which was remotely flashed) and said it needed to go.

He replaced it with a Thomson.

Cool.

Long story short he got me back my speeds.

I gave him a glowing review.

Then, I get a letter from Billing stating they are going to credit my account $20.00 because the tech didn't show up in the 1 hour window I was given.

I was working from home that day so no biggie.

Woot!

Dave

I got my latest bill and they charge me $50.00 for the service call and credited me $20.00 for the tech being 15 minutes late.

No worries.

I called customer service and they immediately removed the charge.

Woot!

It's nice to hear a company doing something right for a change. I've had Comcast for less than a month, but I'm happy so far!

I just upgraded from Digital Basic to Digital Preferred. My MIL is moving in and she will be footing the bill.

Woot!

They removed the $50 correct? What happened to the $20 credit?

They should have taken the $20 credit back after taking the $50 services fee off. Don't you agree?

No, the 20 was a credit for the tech being late.

There should never have been a service fee.

I didn't care as he was only 15 minutes off.

At the end of the day do I feel I deserved the 20" No but according to Comcast I did.

I'm not going to turn down free money obtained in a legal and ethical manner.

all the credits and fee are automated...he probably put on the job he did some inside work, so it put a charge on your account...

but as you found out a simple phone call fixes everything...
