I don't believe too many people watch cricket in United States or Canada, for that matter. I tried watching it...not my thing. I know cricket and baseball are distant relatives...but I much prefer baseball...also sometimes referred to as a "Gentleman's" sport. Do you like baseball?

Cricket is not available here in the states on TV and until the a lot more people can understand what a ton is in it and how to get one cricket will not be popular enough for TV.

A lot of colleges that have a significant number of foreign transfer students have cricket intramural leagues. That's probably the best you're going to get for cricket here in the US.

I'm not a massive fan of test matches, I prefer the shorter formats like Twenty20. The Indian Premier League is currently in progress and being shown on ITV in the UK, I sometimes catch a few games.

Just the chocolate covered kind. The British sport is awful. I stayed in the UK for a month on a business trip a few years ago. I watched a good bit of it and couldn't get into it. We have a lot of consultants here at work who love it though. Seems to be a Europe thing. Don't know anyone who's a US citizen who likes it.

In 1978 I did a TDY in England during the world championships of cricket between Jamica and England (actually I don't remember who was playing so I picked two random teams). During the course of the 6 months I was there I don't believe that game ever ended and I was no closer to understanding what they were doing.

Explanation of the Rules of Cricket

You have two sides: One out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When both sides have been in and out including the not outs,
That's the end of the game.
Simple eh.

Ah the sport that can take days to complete. I honestly have seen bits and pieces of the game but have no idea what is going on.

Not all matches are multi-day. I think those are only test matches.

I hung out with the exchange students in college and we played with a tennis ball so no one would get hurt. I have heard some nasty stories of batters getting hit by the ball.

A friend of mine used to play cricket. A bunch of us went to a field to throw around a football and he brought his cricket bat and ball, because he wanted to get some "batting" practice in. Everyone said "you must be kidding." The ball feels like a sphere of steel wrapped in leather.

I tried to watch some cricket once at a sports bar. I found it to be incredibly boring to watch.
I should note that I also find baseball to be incredibly boring to watch unless I'm actually at a game and drinking some kind of alcoholic beverage.

So no, I don't like cricket.
