How would a little oil mixed in with the gas mess up the carb? Cleaning out the gas tank, carb and spark plug would correct the problem. |

In the automotive forums they bash Honda as well. I'd guess they have some kind of axe to grind with Honda. All engines (Honda, Kawasaki, B&S, Kohler, etc.) have negatives and positives. |

he used 10w30 in his mix didnt feel like cleaning the carb and gas tank, a few screws hold the entire assembly on the briggs, swapped it in 5 minutes, 5 minutes of my time is worth more than the work cleaning the gas tank and carb |

I have no problems with honda they build an excellent engine, just the installed base for replacement parts isnt as big, so not as common. around here honda power equipment is sold through a few specialized retailers and you have to go out of your way to find them, a lot of the local shops wont touch them. |

Honda parts are not normally stocked because they normally don't need service! LOL... It almost sounds like the carb is not set right. The motor revs fine with no load, but put a load on it and it bogs and dies. My B&S on my generator did this. You could rev the motor freely with no load on it. Hook a load to the generator, and the motor would try to open the governor, but bog down and die. Found out the idle jet was plugged. (I had rebuild the carb a few months before, but couldn't get the jet out at the time. Got pissed and pulled the carb off the motor hot and the jet came right out.) Replaced the jet and the unit runs fine... or ran fine... I haven't started it since December. (I have StaBil Marine in it though.) |

It's better then some and worse then others. It's better then low-end B&S/Kohler in this case and worse then Kawasaki. |

So far even off the wall parts have been in stock when I go there. If it's really that bad there then I don't blame you for moving to another brand. |

WOW, now how could they possibly stay in business if they don't carry parts in stock, and they need 2 weeks to get them? wouldn't that brand be gone? if someone drops a mower off to be fixed, and they say it'll take 2 weeks to fix, because we don't have the parts, they are going to outright say to them, that's insane!. maybe it's just those dealers in your state, but i can't see all honda dealers doing that. it don't make any sense!. |

My thoughts exactly. The dealer can get any parts they don't have the within 24-48 hours just like you could ordering them online yourself. I don't buy all the dealers have insane lead times like that for a second. The good news is it doesn't matter to me since the dealers here always have what I want or can get it the next day. I can't imagine they make a ton on a $4 part for a person who they might do $20-30 a year in business with is worth next day service but they do it anyways! I couldn't imagine dealing with box stores for parts. Ick! |

It's not that they have insane lead times, it's that everyone would balk at paying the $20 extra for express shipping to get it there in 24-48 hours. The only people that are going to pay that are the commercial guys whose equipment down time means profit down time. |

The 2 dealers I use both have daily deliveries so there is no charge for getting something fast. If I'm lucky I can call right before they close at like 4 pm in the afternoon and they can get it into the order for the next day. I can then pick up the part at 9 am the next day. I guess some dealer's aren't up to the same standards as others. |
