That all said, I would still love to know if on USG you can VID tag existing network (i.e. created under Interface tab) instead of creating new VLAN interface?
Wouldn't this imply that you are tagging outgoing packets to the existing network, but unless the network was a VLAN, the network would not be supplying already tagged packets back to the USG. I'm not sure what this would do in the network. Or maybe I'm not sure what you would do this for.
Conceivably, a dumb switch could (on the basis of MAC address) pass tagged messages intended for a downstream smart switch that could deal with the tags while separating out the untagged messages intended for other clients with other MAC addresses.
The mind boggles
