Re: [Official] Torchlight 2 Thread I think they are fixing both things for the second release. Need to find a source though. |

They are similar, but there is a difference. I have Torchlight 1, and may get Torchlight 2. As others have said Tourchlight is more cartoony and Diablo is dark. Torchlight is light. Diablo has a more indepth story.
The reason they look very similar is that some of the Torchlight guys used to be Blizzard. In the end they are both ways to spend your time, pick the one that works for you. -- When will the people realize that with DRM they aren't purchasing anything? |

I just happen to like Torchlight a bit better.
Played the beta all weekend, and it's execellent.
You don't get the real feel for the game until you turn up the difficulty to veteran/elite.
This game is a perfect stepping stone for Runic to come out with the Torchlight MMO.
It is already starting to feel like an mmo... just excellent.
the outdoor areas are huge, and fun to explore just like an mmo
Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 are VERY different games. You can play both without hating on the other.
Torchlight 2 is more open... like an mmo
Diablo 3 is more story driven... like Diablo 2
very different feels
enjoy both, and stop hating on one or the other like me |

 | reply to Beef Two things I like so far: 1) multi-player 2) new pet cat (old was was blah)
Two things I don't like: 1) cartoonish graphics 2) faster pace
I already pre-ordered it and gave away my TL1 copy to a friend. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed this summer. |

Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 | reply to DJStarfox I actually do like the toony graphics, reminds me of WoW.
I agree with your comments about the faster pace. And many many others have said the same thing.
I recommended in the forums for the beta that movement speed should be reduced 5-15%.
And that people can gear with speed boost items if they really want to run that fast.
At this point, you run so fast that you can kite in circles most bosses |

Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 | reply to Savious TL1 is very limited scope.
TL2 was multi player and is a much larger game, about 5x larger with large outdoor areas.
This is all leading to the ultimate goal, a Torchlight MMO with a massive open persistent world. with mounts! they already said the mmo will have mounts!
will be awesome! |

Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 | reply to Beef I'm not sure if anyone else playing the beta has noticed the following as well:
When you enter dungeons, the perspective rotates a little bit so you always go at dungeons from a little bit different angle. It's pretty cool, that you are always tackling dungeons from a different perspective.
I'm not talking about zooming in or out |

KristopherI got a 4Premium join:2002-10-11 Tyrinaria kudos:4 | Just did the pre-order as well. I could not pass up both games for only twenty bucks. By the time it comes out, I'll have played through the first one, and will be ready to try something other than D3. It'll be cool to be able to play co-op with you man. Jobbie will be in on it as well. -- Play DSLr Mafia: »Pub Games |

Beef join:2012-05-16 027054 kudos:1 | reply to Beef The multiplayer was great.
Did 6 in the beta... not sure if it will be more than 6 at release?
But 6 on elite setting felt like a raid, it was excellent. Have to focus target to get down the big bads or you will wipe
The biggest issue with TL2 at this point, from Beta play at least:
Much faster movement speed + targeting problems = frustration
They still need to tweak targeting, it is a known TL2 issue. Hopefully it will be addressed before launch. Right now targeting is too finicky. |
