50/25 is a nice hike...price increase?...I'm in NYC we always get the best deals...so speed upgrade will just be added to my Ultimate package for free right?

Can't wait to see the fluff on the two new packages.

What a sec? What about those that currently have the 50/20 bundle plan? Does it increase too??

I wonder if this is going to be across the board or only for those 2 tiers mentioned? I would hate for a price hike on the 150 tier($215) with no sizable increase in speed. Maybe a VZ insider or someone familiar with this situation can comment

The rate and speed increase is not automatic. You have to order the new tier (and pay for it). If you're on 150 right now with any kind of price guarantee, nothing is changing.

No official word but I have two guesses:

1. 50/20 just goes away. It never really fit in to begin with once 35/35 was offered without triple play.

2. 50/20 becomes a new 100Mbps range service, similar to the current 150/35. Then the existing 150/35 package gets a bump to 200-300+/65+. (Wishful thinking)

So what does this mean for me?

I just renewed my 2 year contract 2 weeks ago and upgraded to 25/25.
Will I automatically get the 50/20? Or do I have to call and request it?

Does 50/20 replace 25/25, or is it considered an upgrade with a price increase?

Thanks.

I don't think any of the upgrades are automatic. You have to call to upgrade and pay the new rates.

It says in the article : "As far as I know, it will be like old upgrades where everyone will remain on the same plan and I'm assuming pay more for the increase," says the source. These changes should be arriving somewhere around June 18.

Sweet 75/35 sounds great, this will help alleviate some latency with gaming when downloading without as strict of QOS settings on the network.

i been more then happy with the 25/25 and i tend to be a heavy user. 50/25 would rock. i am counting down the days until my contract is over.

You know you can upgrade your speed tiers while in contract

That's when X-GPON comes into play (hopefully within the next 10 years)

They haven't even affected BPON around here yet. I still get 43/35 speeds anytime of the day, any day of the year.

From the various responses here I am confused as to what all this means.

Is it just that FIOS will offer new deals with higher speeds or are all of us now on 25/25 automatically going to get the faster 50/20?

A few days ago I checked online what I could get if I signed on to a two year contract and the only offer was the 50 speed for $5 more a month (and the gift card).
