<description><![CDATA[Melissa2009B posted : Well I have the separate router and downloaded manuals for that and the TG862G from Comcast, but I haven't the foggiest idea how to configure these in that "bridge" mode now. What to hook to what? Is it simple or rocket science?<br>...<br><br>Ok, some more investigating here...<br><br>Looks like I plug the ethernet ports together, get Comcast to switch to bridge mode, then reconfigure the PC's and Rokus into the router?]]></description>

( YAY! ) He said I can kepe using their TG862 and add my own router, and just call them and have them put the TG862 in the BRIDGE MODE and it will work with an outside router! Whoo hoo! ( if that works ) It would save me about $175 on going to Best Buy and getting that 722!<br><br>AND he said it would probably fix my issue with the GBTV channel!<br><br>Whew...]]></description>

Comcast told me to get support from Arris on how to change the DNS settings, and Arris said that because it was Comcast, I can only get support from Comcast. No one at Comcast seems to know how to change the DNS settings, or IF they can even be changed. I now KNOW how to login from the web, to the Arris settings ( &raquo;<A HREF="http://10.0.0.1/" >10.0.0.1/</A> ), but it seems that changing the DNS is not available there, or I'm missing it and they cant even tell me how to do it.]]></description>

BUT there's a certain streaming channel ( GBTV ) that I consider important and like to watch, which has constant reload problems. They say they're working on it with Comcast, and suggest changing my DNS settings, but after a bunch of hassle with Comcast's support, I found out that cant be done with this gateway. ( I KNOW, YA TOLD ME SO!   :D )<br><br>But it frustrates the heck out of me, to try watching this hour show, 5 nights a week at 3 am before bedtime, and have it reload dozens of times, when I know the Netflix works just fine. <br><br>But it seems like my only other option is to replace this TG862 with a Arris Tm722g Cable Modem Docsis 3.0 from Amazon.com, and a NetGear WNR3500L-100NAS&#8203; Rangemax Wireless-N Gigabit Router with USB (Factory Refurbished) , also from Amazon.com, and then have eternal support hassles from Comcast because I don't pay them the $7 a month for their frigging gateway. <sigh>]]></description>

So in place of not having those, I needed uptime for internet so I can stream and made sure kids can do whatever they want online. Not to mention the price difference was only $5 to $10. I would think that your speeds are more of an exception than the rule for the ones having Performance tier. WTF?!<br> </p></div>This is just a guess and may not make any difference.<br><br>It sounds like your network changes are getting changed when the computer boots up and even while it is running.  The first thing is make sure your network changes are being saved after you make the changes.  The second thing is disable the automatic network connecting and see if that makes any difference.  Maybe, that is doing something to screw up the network changes. Rates are competitive and the interface is extremely flexible. They have an amazing array of features and call quality is excellent with Comcast HSI. It's cheaper than Comcast phone if you use <4000 min per mo outbound (0.5c-1c/min) and <3500 min inbound $7/mo max for 3500 min, or 1-1.5c/min). Like most of the VoIP services, they don't have oddball charges.]]></description>
