Local TV which is fighting to stay relevant yet still making money hand over fist.
Cable is only one or two rate increases away from total irrelevancy, yet still fabulously profitable.
And the viewers are going to have to watch all sorts of crap exhorting them to reach out to the executives of either company - none of whom will read any of it other than to tally the letters into "for" and "against" piles before they shred them (if that).
No other business airs out its vendor negotiations quite like subscription TV. No other business lobbies me as the consumer to communicate directly with their suppliers.
It's completely absurd, and has no other effect than to make me intensely dislike both of the whining "negotiatiors."
