Waldwick, NJ | [DVR] Walk-in DVR Upgrade still possible in NJ? When I check online (for the Verizon web pages that actually work!) it seems like Verizon stores in NJ say you can't walk-in for an exchange of a DVR. I'd like to upgrade from my original DVR to the new 500GB model. Is it still possible to do a walk-in upgrade in NJ or is it all online requests that costs $40?
If you can still walk-in, any web page references that show which locations in Northern NJ I could try to swap the unit at?

Not far from your house. I would try walking in with your old box and see if you can get someone there to swap it out for you. A few of my neighbors had success doing that at the stores local to me. If you call first, they'll probably tell you they can't do it, but if you just show up you might luck out with a sympathetic soul.

The next nearest store to you is probably at 26 Spring Valley Market Place in Spring Valley, NY. 877-346-7575, open Mon-Sat 9-6.
FWIW, I just forked over the $40 and had it shipped to me to avoid the hassles. No regrets.

I find conflicting info online, though it seems there's a store on Rt 17N in Paramus that might do it. I'll call once they open and check it out. I never even knew there was a Verizon store at the address they have listed.

That page above states "n any of the New Jersey locations shown below, you can: Pickup, upgrade, and return a Set-Top Box" so we'll see.

I tried to get a 7232 at the Concord Mall, DE store about a month ago and it was no go. They only had 6416 models which I would not accept. Had to pay $20 to get a 7216 shipped to me. I previously did not have a DVR, just a SD box and a CC. |

I called the Paramus Rt 17 N store and the rep said the only way to upgrade to the 500GB DVR was online. Would be useful if Verizon's site info was specific and consistent. Ok... upgrading online and forking over $40 more dollars

Yes, things have changed since the stores were bypassing the online upgrade fee - so the loophole was closed by removing all the 500GB DVR's from their inventory. |
