Boom, 4 channels bonded upstream. I have no illusions that this has addressed the reboots. I'll know in a few hours. I'm giving these recent reboots a break, since something is definitely going on at the fallowfield POI.

I have a DCM475 with STAC.02.08 from when we signed up with Teksavvy in June 2011. I usually get disconnected twice a day but nobody is usually home in the day when it happens so I only noticed it at night when it usually happens sometime between 9pm and 11pm. I was just happen I could have internet with unlimited bandwidth lol. I'm hope this week and noticed it happens 3 times a day every day. I see the DCM476 on sale for less than $90 online would it be better to just buy that or call Teksavvy support and get the one I have replaced with one with the updated firmware?

If your modem is still under warranty, why not give a firmware upgrade a try?

Err... because it's not user upgradable? And even the OP found other unofficial ways to upgrade it would likely void the warranty. Cable modem firmware are meant to be updated by either the cable provider or the manufacturer/distributor.

FWIW; I've had no reboots for the past 3 days with the stac 2.16 on the DCM475. Definitely an improvement over 4-6 reboots per day.

So did you upgrade firmware STAC.02.08 to 02.16 on your DCM475, or did you get a replacement modem that came with 02.16 ?

Any evaluation of firmware performance should be done on a single hardware platform to rule out any possible hardware flaw.

Teksavvy is sending me a DCM475 modem to replace the DCM476 modem I just bought from them. The 476 is running STAC 02.31

Am I going to run into the same power cycling issue I'm currently having with the 476 with the older model modem and whatever firmware it will come with? I'm questioning whether switching the cable modem is a good idea now.

They replaced my DCM476 with a DCM475 with stac 2.16. No reboots in 4 days now!

Apparently this reboot issue plagues some stac 2.08 on the DCM475 and the stac 2.31 on the DCM476.

I'm not calling success just yet. If it goes a couple of weeks without a reboot then I'll claim this modem swap worked.

Thomson/technicolor and Rogers really need to figure this out... it's been a real pain for a lot of customers.

Just to add to the thread, I had a 475 with the stac2.08 firmware with multiple daily reboots. It was replaced through TSI (still under warranty) with a stac2.16 a few weeks ago and I haven't had a single reboot since.

That seems to be the feedback so far. Thomson/RCA/Technicolor/etc need to figure out what in the 2.08 and 2.31 firmware caused Rogers fits.

I'm on 5+ days of no reboots.

Looks like I just found my root cause of my problems, here in the same boat with a DCM475 with the 2.08 firmware, I called teksavvy to point it out to them and they aknowledged this is a known issue, however they would not say it was the problem all the previous times I called and logged issues with them about it.

What worst is they left me out to dry saying I need a new modem and they cant do anything about it cause its out of warranty by under a month..

Teksavvy has really gone downhill, not only the support isnt as good, getting to them takes 30 -45 minutes on hold..

Any advice?

Same issue here. IMHO, it's TSI's job to keep firmware compatible and current. The original 1 year warranty is a manufacturer warranty for the hardware only. It's TSI's ongoing responsibility to provide firmware compatibility. My modem was in service for less than a year but TSI is still refusing to upgrade it. It's not like TSI is losing money on the sale of these units either. They are charging full retail and refusing to upgrade them. Then they make another nice tidy little profit by turning around and selling new ones at full price. I would really like to know if this is even legal.

Wow. This is an old thread.
But just in case anyone else stumbles across it, people in Ottawa and Toronto can get their DCM-475 upgraded if they want. See this thread below:
