[FP-Ops] Foldy PPD Graphs

I have disabled processing the foldy machine PPD graphs for the time being. Something is wrong with them, and I'd rather not scrape usa2k See Profile's site for something that isn't working...

If I can fix the problem this week, I'll re-enable them, if not, I'll just drop them. Point graphs for Team Helix, Rosetta@Home, and the FP project are still working properly.

I suspect the problem is somehow related to the data being uploaded from the windows machines. Both Starfishes and usa2ks monitors rely on valid and customized unit info files. The scripts that I created on the Linux blades are currently producing them OK. But the windows scripts are having problems. I think a careful study of the differences between them might reveal what it is. Knowing the actual problem is the first step in figuring out how to fix it.

The problem is, the customized unitinfo.txt file being uploaded from windows machines is incorrect. I tested this, as you can see in the screen grabs above taken before and after the files were edited.

The unitinfo.txt file must include the project number

Foldy1, Blade1 - unitinfo.txt file before edit

It's not just the missing PPD values on fah-tool. I have some script issues as well. I think the latest update to perl broke something, and I haven't had time to figure out what's wrong.

I just noticed it. Looks correct now. Do I need to make some change to the batch file on my end?

@jaynick- Yes, I believe some sort of change is required to the windows scripts to properly format the unitinfo.txt files. Unfortunatey, I'm not in any position to figure it out since I don't have any windows machines, or have any copies of the batch files currently in use.

@alphapointe- understood, I was trying to figure out what might be broken with respect to what is being displayed on fah-tool. If the PPD values were displayed, would that not fix whatver is wrong with your script?

This was only a test of my theory.

When Foldy blades 1 and 2 next upload their files, the fah-tool display page will revert to the prior missing info display, due to the missing project number.

Looks to me you are on to something but what confuses me it worked fine for months until some WU numbers changed to 608x, 609x and the GPU ones changed to the 80xx range. Say for example, I had a WU 7510, it would show up correctly. Why would the number make a difference?

If we look at F1-1 »fah-tool.org/upload/f01/1-1-unitinfo.txt

They lack info

Now the charts try and search the FAHlog.txt for the right info (fragment below)

I'll take a wee look.

Are you scraping the rendered charts?
(no problem doing so)

So ...

I hate looking at my code long after I've written it.
With all the overtime with our End-of-month push, I've not been too motivated to bend my brain about this. Obviously if unitinfo.txt is incomplete, I'm not successfully swapping in the Project: from FAHlog.txt

Not sure how soon I can chase this down
I guess the good news is, work has been non-stop, and I get overtime.

If there are trusted/well-know members here that might want to look at the PHP code, that could be possible as well. Or maybe just a copy versus the actual live site files.

I know if I put my full attention to it, I would re-write what I currently use.

Jim.. If you get me a copy of the windows scripts, I could maybe take a look and see if I can figure out a fix.

Looking d
Way down the road, the files created by v7 are completely different, and they don't have the unit info txt file at all...

In the few years that I've been involved, there have been differences in the unitinfo.txt file, and FAHlog.txt, either as a result of updates within the various versions of the core (a2, a3, a4) or FAH itself. It's always been a challenge for me to keep my Linux scripts up to date to properly render the customized version for the needs of fah-tool and nozero monitors.

Thanks, I was just wondering why the the WU number would break something.

To further complicate future folders, if/when the move to v7 happens to the folding fleet, it doesn't even generate a unitinfo.txt file.

To create one for my monitoring purposes, I have a three page script running inside a Linux virtual machine, extracting various bits of information from the v7 client manager using Telnet, and the rest from the rather different looking log files.

(I don't claim to be a good coder, I only know enough to get the job done).

I am no coder at all but I do see the ver. 7 client presenting a new set of issues for the FP.

It's *magic*

I know jaynick See Profile uploads his files at 31 minutes past the hour. So, I wait 2 minutes and download FAHlog.txt and unitinfo.txt from fah-tool, rewrite unitinfo.txt, and putting it back.
