Re: [Cable] Cable: Anyone still NOT have upstream channel bondin

Click for full size
I got upstream bonding on my 6121 with 1.0.5.1 firmware sometime in the last 3 weeks. Bloor(2) POI.Seems pretty stable with 17 days uptime currently. Can't wait for upstream upgrades!

Is it just me or the Markham POI (Anderson) hasn't been upgraded to support upstream channel bonding?

It's node-based not POI-based. There's many thousands of nodes in Rogers' network, it'll take time before they upgrade every one. No one gets faster speeds till the tariffs are updated, so for now it makes almost no difference.

Yep, in some areas they're starting to roll out. just hold tight as they slowly bring it up through the network. Honestly it doesn't make that much of a difference especially now that the POI congestion is getting eased out.

I'm at Dundas & Sherbourne on the Bloor POI, still 4x1. Anyone living in the same area with more bonded upstream channels?

Is it just me or the Markham POI (Anderson) hasn't been upgraded to support upstream channel bonding? I have been waiting for it. I am using SB6121 Modem and I hope it's not because of it. Thanks.

It seems my DHCP release is evey 24h. My modem this morning is still at 1 and 1. I did notice 6 messages on the log page that said "re-boot due to partial service. DOCSIS 2.0". So maybe there is work going on in my area (Kanata).

The bottom line is this:

DOCSIS 2.0 -> 3.0
Quite a significant difference during peak hours or congestion

DOCSIS 3.0 4 channel -> 8 channel
More consistent service, you may be eligible for faster speeds when they become available

Similarly to upstream bonding.
1->2 quite a difference but afterwards, probably not much.

4x2 on motorola at 400/401 Toronto.

It did not make a significant difference at all. Maybe there is more speed consistency during peak, but it was never that bad to begin with.

If your connection is fast and consistent with 4x1, you are likely not going to notice any change..

DHCP lease 7 Days. No digging or Rogers vans in the area. The local node is 5 houses up the street from here, and the fibre runs more or less directly from there to the Fallowfield POI, about 2KM away.

Unless you are having major issues, don't worry to much about it. You should check to see if your DHCP lease is 1 hour or 7 days. If it's an hour, there are probably upgrades going on in your area.

I check last night and mine was bonding at 1 up and 1 down. I have a SB6121. I did a re-boot and it connected at 4 and 2. But this morning it was back to 1 and 1.

Do you think I should call about this?
I'm in Kanata

MMmm... Just noticed that our DCM475 here was operating with only 1 downstream and 1 upstream today. Power-cycled it and it's back to the normal 4 down / 1 up again.

Weird.

I've got the SB6120. I did not realize before that it only supports 4 bonded channels up and down. That would explain it.
