Automotive → [Photos] Transmission replacement

I picked up the transmission from harbor freight

yeah the weather was good up until like the last part.. I was driving in the driver's side pin for the axle and it started pouring like crazy and had a thunderstorm.. I covered my air compressor and I kept on going, about an hour later it finally let up so I opened the hood again and put the pitch mount on and put dielectric grease on all the connections for the main engine harness to the transmission.

I used my family member's car so I would not have to take the train in every week which would mean me getting up to catch it at 2 AM just to go to work at 4 AM.

I wish I still had the time to do this stuff!

that fifth gear has got me quite curious.
i can only imagine how the previous owner treated the vehicle for the tranny to be in that condition.

Yeah it's almost like they wanted to do that, but then again they were giving test drives on a car that had no gear oil in it..

the replacement is doing well

This is what's been taking up most of my time.. I still haven't got back to the other person about that dimming LED circuit.

heh only 125 lb the worst part is picking it up dead lift from the ground but once it's in your hands and supported it's not so bad.. it's just the first shock of picking it up lol

20 years ago I used to throw around bare chevy and Dodge small blocks.....Could muster the strenght to sling a bare big block around and after you get a feel for the objects balance points its not hard.

However, it dont make it easy!

yeah once it's balanced it's great.. I did do one little mistake which was forgetting to take off the bracket on the right side of the transmission which supports the exhaust so it cracked.. Nothing that the wielder could not fix.

ahhh, im not so young anymore to be lifting heavy things....

That's exactly how I used to describe picking up my ex girlfriend

...for the next one I either need her to be a few lbs lighter, or strong enough to lift me instead

There was a day I could lift those kind of things.

And then time came when lifting those kind of things might throw my back out.

And now just reaching over just to move the mouse to see people lifting those things might throw my back out. You are just sitting there and. . oh crap!
