So point out the obvious to me....How do you grind 5th gear clear???

And then drive it for xxx miles?

Good guess's are good enough....

Obviously it's a Subaru>>>but even they have limits! Hey Man,ya do nice woirk and have alot to be proud of...Not trying to knock or hijack the thread! good design is good design. Good mechanicing is also good mechanicing too....

could of been without transmission gear oil.. 5th is one of the easiest to kill because how less exposed it is to gear oil.

If it was not for the the 5th gear and the pinion bearing it would of been fine at 237K however when that bearing went it now allows the input shaft to work back and forth which would later just destroy the front diff.
