 | Linksys x2000 and VDSL requirements. So i have verizon fios 15/5 with a Series3 9100VM modem/router hookup through a vdsl connection.
The router died.
Can I use a Linksys x2000 or do i need a special modem/router device? |

Edit: You still need the modem as said below |

If the OP has FIOS-TV, he still needs a Westell or Actiontec to provide MOCA LAN. -- There are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

If you have a fiber connection, then you have an ONT hanging on your house and the internet enters your house via MoCA (coax) or Ethernet. If it's coax, then you may need to call verizon to have it switched to ethernet (and, of course, run an ethernet cable), then you can use almost any router. (in that case, the x2000's blue "cable" WAN interface.) |

In MDUs, Verizon sometimes uses VDSL to distribute internet service under the brand name of FiOS. Similar to how Uverse is distributed, but on a much more local scale.
FiOS in a MDU over VDSL is still "FiOS". -- University of Southern California - Fight On! |
