Still getting unlimited 4G?

I posted this in another thread, but I wanted to give it a thread of its own to see if anybody has any insight...

I know that Sprint discontinued all of its unlimited data plans. However, I have a 4G WiMax account that is still listed as "unlimited." I use 20 - 30 gigs of data every month and I have yet to be notified by Sprint of any data caps on my account. I live in the greater L.A. area and use the U1901 USB stick, which stays powered on in the same location 24/7 (mounted outside my home in a weatherproof box, up near the roof to maximize signal from the tower).

I keep wondering if I'm a) an anomaly, and somehow or another someone from Sprint just forgot to change my account details and I've managed to stay under the radar; b) they're waiting for me to go out of contract (which is up in April 2013); or c) they're waiting until they roll out LTE in my area, and then they'll migrate me over and cap me. I've heard they aren't grandfathering accounts, so I doubt that's a possibility. In fact they've been letting people out of their early termination fees instead of grandfathering in until the contract is up.

Does anybody have any insight? Of course I'm not in a hurry for them to cap me and with any luck I'll manage to keep under the radar for awhile. I just want to be ready to make my next move when it happens.

Is it a business account?

No, it's a personal account. Sprint 4G Mobile Connect plan at $49.95/month.

Well my advise is, "Shhhh."

I know many business accounts are still unlimited maybe they set yours up wrong originally... just enjoy it

That's pretty much what I figured - I'm an anomaly and it's only a matter of time before someone figures out I'm getting unlimited service and shouldn't be.

When and if they finally catch me, I figure I can just cancel Sprint and go over to Millenicom's unlimited BYOD plan without even skipping a beat, and I'm only out the $50 MCcom activation fee. Either that or I can go to Time Warner and get even faster speeds, but I'm a bit hesitant to do that because my 4G has been so reliable. I signed up for it a year ago to replace a slow DSL that used to go down multiple times a day. I get consistent 4.5 download speeds with my 4G with occasional peaks around 8, and it hasn't gone down once in the 14 months I've had it. I hear mixed reports from TWC and I'm not sure I want to cross that bridge unless I'm eventually forced to.

If you have cable available you should use it... wireline is almost always better than wireless.

You can also just switch to clear when/if the time comes... it would be the exact same service you have now at the exact same price.

I do have cable available, but it's Time Warner. My neighbors who have it generally have an unfavorable opinion of them. It's certainly faster when it's working the way it should, but they have frequent outages, frequent speed drops, long ping times, etc. and lousy customer service to go along with it. My Sprint WiMax isn't the fastest in the world, but it's perfectly adequate for what I do at home and it has been rock solid for the 14 months I've been using it. I get steady 4.5 download speeds with occasional peaks up to 10, and the big thing for me is it doesn't go down, period. I haven't had a single internet outage in 14 months. The DSL I replaced it with used to go down 2 or 3 times a day.

Ny next door neighbor has Clear and is happy with it, so that's also an option. For now I'll just maintain status quo until I'm forced to make a change. I might ultimately end up on cable if WiMax goes away and there are no unlimited LTE options.

my 3g service is still uncapped.

it used to use 2-3 GB a month until all the smartphones came to visi.

It has consistly been over 10GB for at least 6 months.

I've been out of contract at least 4 years.

I have evo 4g with hotspot I just almost 70gig last month. I was freaked out when i got text message last month saying that they were charging for overages. Soo I called yesterday and they said they still can't tell if your using hotspot data or phone data. But they do have a back office dept looking for high user ...Like me!! But will give you a call and let you know to watch your downloads. Which means absolutely nothing too me...but the days are numbered. Alot people hate on WiMAX but for me it rocks in my area.
