on a personal note About this theme: I suppose it works for me.
My brother in law was diagnosed with cancer a month ago and died two weeks later.
He met my sister through me (over my objections - and his wife's. That's another story.) and was one of my audiophile cohorts during the 1980's.
He and I would travel to record shows and vinyl shops from Virginia to New York.
Today, our vinyl collections have the combined value of a tank of gas.
About Vinyl:
Even if I could, I wouldn't go back to those days.
I like the Latest Digital Medium too much. A huge amount of rare/obscure music has come available.
Better still, Computer Digital is an easier format to work with, than vinyl, cassettes (8Track, Reel, DAT, etc) or CD's could be.
With it, we've combined all our previous 'Golden Ages' of music into one Meta one.
While I'm digging that:
This thread is a nice moment for me to recollect, and to tie past and present together.
So here's to my friend and family, to music, to cheesing off the RIAA and to whoever-it-is that I don't annoy here.
