| Cisco DPC3008 D3 Modem Questions I just received a new Cisco DPC3008 D3 modem and when I go to 192.168.100.1 it shows stats and has a place at the top of the page to login. I have searched the web but did not find anything about login and password.
Would anyone here know the login and password to get into the modem.
Thanks for any help.. |

| I just used the ubiquitous "admin" but that really won't open up any user options if the modem is from Comcast, as opposed to a self-owned modem.
I previously had the DPC 3008 through Comcast, and that is what I found at any rate. -- Deeds, not words |

 | That doesn't really answer the question.
What is the login and password? |

 | reply to GSTEXEC1 I have the same modem from Comcast and there is really nothing you can do with the settings. Comcast has "shut off" any end user functions. |

| Thanks for the reply. I tries the admin/admin and nothing but found if the modem on a router then could hit enter with nothing in the info screens and would get an addition screen to change the starting range for boot up to the cable system. I had numerous problems with this modem and have returned it to Comcast today. The local office does not have any D3 modems. They state that they never have had D3 modems in the local area.. So I decided to go to Office Depot and get a Zoom 5341J and try it.
Again Thanks for all the help... |

What is the login and password? Why yes it did. login and password (as with most Linksys/Cisco consumer models is "admin").
As previously mentioned however, it accomplishes nothing in a Comcast-rental modem becasue they don't want customers mucking around with the settings. -- Deeds, not words |

1 edit | reply to GSTEXEC1 So just replaced my rental modem with this modem (I own) but admin/admin does not work.
Any other username/password to try?
I am running FW May 2012 if that matters.
I left both fields blank and hit login and it seemed to work, however everything looks the same except for a logout button now.
Does this thing not have an event log or anything like that or is this username/password dependent and the blank login really is just useless and I need to use another one? |

Keep in mind that the firmware is whatever Comcast rolls out, regardless of whether you bought it or are renting it. They may (probably do) restrict what settings the end user can access. -- Deeds, not words |

 | I am more so not looking to change settings but also to see any type of logs/events.
On the old modem I could see timeouts, uncorrectable packets errors etc. This one the default page shows none of that just signal level. |

|
 | Well that sucks.
So no direct link (as in page just hidden) or secondary login that provides anything else anyone knows of?
Problem is I want to see if my connection is stable. It seems fine for the little I use it but I want to see over a day or two period if the modem reboots or anything and short or setting up a server to ping non-stop I really cant with this modem.
Ugh, why would they take away something like this? That is silly.
The crappy UBEE modem I rented had logs and showed me correctable and uncorrectable errors also. This more advanced modem they limited. bahh. |
