Get the Docsis 3 modem (475/476 - they've recently introduced a new model number, upping it by 1, but it's basically the same thing)
The Docsis 2 modems like the 425 only use 1 channel, so if you are congested, there's nothing you can do. The Docsis 3 475/476 uses up to 8 down and 4 up (even if you go with a lower-speed package). Think of it as being on a 1-lane road vs a 8-lane road. Much better performance even if you are in a busy area.
Plus Docsis 3 will be the standard for the forseeable future, so if you get a compatible modem, it should be state-of-the-art for a long time. |
