[DSL] Packet Loss Montreal

said by JonyBelGeul:

Thanks for your help. I'm figuring it out.

hi ive been having packet loss issues for the past 2 weeks, my isp is bell and im on the fibe plan. Recently,I switched to a 25mb dl deal and the packet loss issue is still there. This greatly affects my gaming performance, but browsing seems fine. I called bell around 10 times, and they all said the same thing. That I had my speeds and the line was fine. I did notice however that when I tried using my neighbors net or my friend's (lives nearby), the packet loss was still around 10%, but when I brought my laptop to my cousin's house in laval (different island), the connection was much better even though he had the same isp and was on the same plan. So I'm not sure if it has to do with the area I'm living in

The technicians all told me that pingtest.net is unreliable, but even when I tried pinging a server via command prompt, it showed packet loss.

Please help ! ;(

Please perform Line Quality-Ping Test from tools section and please provide us the result so everyone as little more info to work with.

Laval is on a true fiber connection not vdsl2 like us in montreal that's maybe why connection felt speedier/more responsive.

But based what i saw from your speedtest your upload is not normal for 25/7

Did bell tech check for line issues?

What modem did bell provide?

here is the link to the line quality ping test: »/pingtest/b488···/2908782

I believe I was with the fibe 25 plan where my upload is not 7mbps, but much lower and my modem is a black one, not the old white dsl modem which got replaced. I have been having frequent disconnections ever since last month, and playing video games is a disaster.

Frequent disconnections is first sign of line issue.
It's possible modem is at fault but think it's more something going wrong with your phoneline or the line just cannot handle the speed.

Call Bell explain your issue them tell you wish the issue escalated to a senior tech & remain call and polite at all times but be forceful.

Black modem is sagemcom same modem for my fibe 25

They cannot resolve the issue, but one of the agents whom i chatted with, told me there was a "glitch" in their line and then said it had to do with packet loss. The others just told me the line was perfectly fine. I want to send a complaint to someone but I don't know who, which is why I'm here.

I know that this is not the direct forum, but would anyone be nice enough to explain how to read off from the line quality test results.

Here are the results: »/pingtest/5c3a···/2908784

I just want to know where it is actually coming from, precisely. ;/
