Re: [Chat] New computer-ventilation question

Just gauge the total gain by how much more often you see milestones. And that will get even more dramatic once you have successfully sent home enough bonus WUs to start getting the bonus.

I have a list of the dates/numbers so it will be easy to compare. Anything other than "few and far between" will be great.

Thank you! Tomorrow, will look around and see what "bonus WUs" and the other bonus you refer to are.

About those bonus WUs, look here.

I was referring to this part:

Briefly summarizing our bonus formula, the bonus is applied for users who have a passkey, have successfully returned at least 10 bonus-eligible WU's, successfully return >=80% of assigned WU's, and return the WU before the preferred deadline. Bonus points do not apply to partial returns.

If you haven't located this already, you might enjoy watching your hourly, daily, monthly and yearly progress change now that you have that speed demon crunching away.

So I should do something really nice for my husband, who chose/configured this machine with Team Helix in mind?

If you mean the Passkey, I got it yesterday and copied/pasted the number in when I set up. Sorto told me to.

Googled "extreme overclocking," but didn't find anything I understood.

I'm a "Challenging Member" at the top of the "Radar Table" with this new machine working less 24 hours. It sure looks good.

Yes, Sorto, I'm amazed as you predicted. Maybe even stunned.

Wait 'til the bonus points kick in.

BTW, Firefox just prompted me to upgrade and now I'm getting the same error messages you get about the certs. One, so far, for DSLR.

Only if you wish to switch to overclocker's team from helix.

You do, however, get to enjoy their stats. They have those for all the teams, even us.

I'm way confused but don't really need to understand.

There's no risk in the extreme overclocking my computer is doing or you'd tell me.

No risk. Their team is just being courteous to the Folding Community. They have great stats, so they are sharing with the rest of the teams.

I wasn't worried about their team. I'd always just assumed extreme overclockers had set their machines up that way through complex means and mysterious settings. I'm learning.

We can instruct you in the alchemy involved in OverClocking, but you would need to buy some more hardware, (different Heatsink cooler). and watch the temps very very closely, 'till things stabilize.

That i5 is a GOOOOOD OC capable CPU!!

Probably best not ask husband about more hardware right now.

And that is probably an excellent way to void a warranty on a proprietary box.

Sure!
I will be happy to "advise" you.

(Actually, I forgot you bought it, and didn't build it.)

With those circumstances, I would suggest you leave the boxen closed, and stay outa' the BIOS.

Nobody here knows how to build a functional PC. We need warranties and tech support.

Looks like you'd better get your best hankie out and get ready to wave as you start stomping ... I mean ... begin to gently pass each of your team mates and then ROAR on up to another to wave your hankie and gently pass and then ROAR ... well, you get the picture, right?

3,724 points ain't bad for 24 hrs., huh?

Still, it can't be all that fast compared to my team mates who have multiple computers.

Per today's list, the XPS 8500 continues to do very well.

Do you know when it will show something other than zeros toward the right end of the Radar Table's line here: »kakaostats.com/usum.php? ··· =1533349 ?
