Im just concerned about PvP

All the videos Ive watched indicate PvP engagements last anywhere from 5min to forever.

No way to burst someone down?

The cool thing with this game is that there is no monthly fee. If you don't have time to play it, or want to wait, it will always be there later. I just started back on GW1 that I bought when it first came out, and I have access to it still with my account. If that makes a difference.

This next month will be great for gamers. D3 1.0.4, GW2, MoP patch, TL2 to name a few. Looks like the competition is benefiting us gamers... I like it.

I am stating my opinion. Obviously you don't like it. Honestly, I don't care.

I feel the same way, got ripped off by SWTOR CE. Only bought digital edition of GW2 this time around. I think the 20% off is still around

I'm really contemplating picking this game up. It does look intriguing. I just have a bad taste in my mouth after plopping 80 dollars on SWTOR. I don't want to do the same with this one.

anyone who played the last several days in the limited beta/stress test... do WvWvW?... is the rubberbanding gone?

From what i have been reading its a case by case basis depending on video card and drivers. I am running a GTX460 with the last 29x.xx drivers and only had an fps drop in really large fights with lots of effects. (Q6600 core quad)

in the beta, the only place to get gems (whether cash or gold) was trough the trading post (Anet store). They apparently have a formula that varies the (gold) price per gem depending on the demand and availability.

The devs indicated that they will have a set amount coming into the economy so this will make the gold costs of gems (exchange rate - gold -> gems or gems -> gold) constantly fluctuate.

The cash option is set, however.

So someone buys them for cash, and sells them on the AH for gold?

This is excellent... allows server transfer for free essentially.

(if I recall correctly the AH functions across ALL gw2 servers, should normalize prices regardless of your server)

Do gems cost cash?

Yes, gems in GW2 cost cash. It is Anet's form of micro-transactions, which will, hopefully, supplement the costs usually covered by a monthly fee.

Yes, and no.

Gems will also be available for purchase with in game gold. Do expect a high ratio though.

"At launch, players will be able to transfer between worlds freely. However, once server populations have largely settled and stabilized, world transfers will be restricted to once a week and cost a variable amount of gems based on the population of the world being transferred to."

So I take it if JQ is totally full at launch (it will be) just choose a different server to get started and then transfer?

Wonder how long transfers will be free? A week? 2?

Do gems cost cash?

Like I said from Week 1 of D3

D3 was too little WAY too late

it needed to be on the scale of Lineage Eternal to be up to today's standards

Savious your next game to obsess over will be LE

I'm not sure the game will take that much commitment. Esp if we are just playing WvWvW. You can just log on and jump right into it.

It's that damn real life (omgasp!) thang...

I'll be keeping watch of these threads and keeping up to date as you guys get going. I really won't even have the chance for a good while, unless the pull gets the better of me. I know they are completely different games, but I jumped with SWTOR and regretted it so I'll probably wait a few weeks atleast.

Hopefully by then I'll have a better internet (lolz verizon 1.5-3 download)

stvnbrs - I'll be sure to check those vids out. thanks for the heads up!
