Re: Official Guild Wars 2 Thread

question about weekend codes:

can you use/add them on an existing beta account so i can continue leveling my old lvl.14 character?

or must it only be used on a new account and start from level 1.

does anyone know specifically about this issue?

i know the registration page where you put the code in asks if you have a GW2 account already or not,
but i was afraid if i said yes(i have an old account) it would nullify my weekend code. Because i worry
that yes is meant for people who had temp accounts and now want to apply paid retail box codes.

*Pets Vinceruos, gives him a biscuit, sends him back to WOW*

Edit: I'm actually excited about the big patch coming today. Hope they fix/balance a lot of the classes.

Bionic, I think/fear they might nerf spamming grenades a bit, since from what I read that's the only viable options at higher level. Hope they buff other kits instead, but I'm doubtful.

Man I hope not. I don't use them on land but they are the tits underwater. As far as being the only viable option at higher leve, I don't know about that. For fast AOE, like in karma farming events, I use flamethrower a lot combined with radiation field and it's great. You can kill a lot of schtuff very quickly.

Since my engineer is lowbie I'm just going off the fears in the forums. I hope you are right. I personally like the flamethrower more, so *fiery*

I'll have to try the radiation field bit for leveling, didn't think about that.

^This. I've spec'd and geared toward the flamethrower and use it more than anything now on dry land, no matter the number of mobs. I'll have to try the radiation field. Grenades rule underwater. I hope they are not nerfed.

/sigh Webcentzd. I'll read it when I get home. I don't think I changed anything, at least not intentionally. lol

Thanks for the help.

I don't see any patch notes posted yet, so you are not missing anything. For some reason I can access the official forums. I suspect one or more of the IT guys plays this game and wants to read it, so made an exception in Websense for it haha.

If there are patch notes/leaks elsewhere, I don't know about it yet.

Yep ppl are still playing though I read alot of ppl have all ready gotten to 80 and done all the content so I dont know what these ppl do now as there is no gear tread mill at this point and no real "raids" for future content like wow.

This was implemented towards the end of Oct, so this isn't breaking news or anything.

Text from the link I gave above:

FOV (Field of View) Changes Beta Test

We’re ready to beta test a change to our FOV (Field of View) that should provide a better experience for those with widescreen monitors. We want your feedback about the change to help us decide whether to deploy it to all players.
To help test, you’ll need to add a special command line to your GW2 client’s shortcut. Here’s how:
1) Create a shortcut to your GW2 client (right-click -> “Create Shortcut”)
2) Right-click the GW2 client shortcut
3) Click “Properties”
4) Locate text field labeled “Target.”
It should contain the file path of your shortcut, and will look something like this:C:\Games\Gw2\Gw2.exe
5) Type -testVerticalFov at the end of the Target line
Be sure to include a space between .exe and -test.
The line should look like this: C:\Games\Gw2\Gw2.exe -testVerticalFov
Please note that your Target line may or may not have quotation marks. If it does have quotation marks, this tag should go outside of them. So it will look like this:
“C:\Games\Gw2\Gw2.exe” -testVerticalFov
6) Once the command line has been added, click Apply -> OK.
7) That’s it! Jump in and play with this new setting, and post your feedback in the following thread: »forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/su···st551648
If at any time you want to return to the old FOV, simply remove the –testVerticalFov from your target line and it’ll return to normal.

If you try to run through ORR zones you will die. and end up having like 6 on you.

take your time, enjoy the zone, kill them as they come, explore, gather, goes much smoother than trying to blast through

Well, I'll be damned. Thanks Koil. Funny thing is I never set up anything. It was there for awhile and then gone. lol. I'll fix it when I get home though.

Just gives you more FOV on the sides for widescreen.

so is what I am currently seeing now on my widescreen distorted?

like a square being stretched onto a rectangle?

with WoW and Tera, widescreen just means more is visible on teh sides with widescreen vs. square monitor. no distortion

Just check out the thread to see the different pics. The ones I posted blew the margins big time.

Seems more zoomed out, and like the toon is more centered in the screen vertically

similar to what happens in large events already in the game

awesome
