After spending a couple of days in Orr, I freely offer that the undead (Risen) in GW2 will pown any undead I can remember in WoW. I did a couple of suicide runs through some large packs (there are no small ones in Orr) to reach some POIs and Waypoints. The outcomes were hilarious. Stuns, knockdowns, yank-backs, cripples, fears had me lit up and behaving like a cheap pinball machine. I hopped, rolled, ran, dove, flipped, you name it, in an attempt to survive. I even had one run past me like we were racing while I was speed boosted. lol

At one point I fell through a friggin crack in the earth only to find myself amongst another mass of Risen. And just what the hell is going on with these Risen Chickens? You kill them, they explode, and a Risen Grub comes out of their remains. Absolutely awesome!

Yar I hate those Risen... the aggro range has to be adjusted and they seem to chain off each other, pulling massive #s if you piss one off. Extremely smart for undead mobs, smarter than living NPC mobs like pirates...

Yeah, my shit was running awesome last night after these drivers. So crisp and smooth.

I was doing that same thing also. Running around Divinity's Reach and just gazing at everything. That place is so badass inside.

Other companies producing any future MMO's, please take note... please use Divinity's Reach as a model for Home/Sancutary Cities. That's the way it should be done.

I finally got through the Malchor's Leap map. What a trip. Every node, poi, waypoint, and skill point was a challenge to get. Rewards were well worth it. Lots of good mats and I sold the map completion gear for 8g. I did get lucky on the gear. I also picked up a 9 ectos for the trouble. Headed to Cursed Shore now. I hope to join some event zergs so I can farm more mats.

downloaded amd hd 6870 beta driver 12/2/2012... seems to have increased my performance with the game as well... higher fps in and out of zergs, the graphics in this game are just amazing... i can't believe I still love exploring/harvesting/events in the open world, I don't get sick of it

thinking back to open world in WoW, once you hit level cap it had no meaning...

the more I play the guardian, the more I love him, and I'm like wow his abilities/boons are awesome, he will be my main

then I switch back to my warrior, and I'm like wow I love him too

just gonna have to play both!

last night got in-game mail from Anet customer support.

Mind you, I never contacted them or anything.

They gave me a "Karka treasure chest", from the ancient karka event. Which included 20 slot karka box, 3 exotics, one of which was accessory that I immediatley equiped, and 2 rares.

I did participate in the Ancient Karka event, but not to completion, since the vent got hung up (we could make no further progress) not sure why... But after 60minutse of rezzing about 60+ people... and that's pretty much all I was doing, I gave up.

after selling the 2 exotics, and 2 rares, I almost made 10g

thanks for the freebies Anet!

Wars 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to ArenaNet’s flagship title. Due to launch sometime in 2012, GW2 aims to fix a lot of what’s “wrong” in the MMO world. With reworked combat mechanics, a focus on Dynamic Events, voiced quest dialog, several new professions, fan-favorite races, and the massive open world of Tyria, Guild Wars 2 is on track to be far more epic in scope than the original… while still retaining the F2P business model. The reliance on a holy trinity of class-roles is gone too, with every profession in GW2 being able to take on several roles, including that of a healer. On top of it all, there will also be several unique forms of PVP for the competitive gamer: from match-made contests that any gamer will be familiar with to massive World vs. World vs. World wars that pitch entire servers against one another. ArenaNet hopes there will be something for everyone in Guild Wars 2.

FEATURES

Dynamic Events | Aimed at making questing more interesting than killing ten rats, Dynamic Events are area-wide quests that scale based on the amount of people participating and can set in motion a chain reaction that spans an entire zone. Players will always have something new and exciting to do when they log in, from stopping a band of invading centaurs, to hunting down a massive ice wyrm with the Nords.

Unique Combat Mechanics | Each profession has both weapons and spells to use, and each weapon has its own skills as well. Players will be able to blend their skills to create powerful interactions (fire arrows throw a wall of fire to create flaming arrows), and every class is capable of being a healer, ensuring that you’re never waiting around for a “priest” to complete content.

Personal Story | At character creation, players will set up their personal biography for their hero, which will inform their entire story throughout the scope of GW2, maximizing replay value and ensuring that your character feels like a character, and not just an avatar with shiny armor.

WvWvW PVP | A part of the Endgame, we don’t know much about WvWvW PVP yet, other than the fact that it will allow hundreds of players from three different servers to compete against one another in a massive battle with siege weapons and destructible environments for some pretty extreme server-wide bonuses that are bestowed upon the winner.

Free to Play | Guild Wars 2 will continue the tradition of its forebear by being completely free beyond the retail purchase of the game. There will be an Item Shop in the game, but ArenaNet insists that it will only be for cosmetic and convenience items, never for anything that would give one player a competitive edge.

PROFESSIONS

Warrior | Your sword and board master, the Warrior prefers to be in the thick of battle.

Ranger | The ranged specialist capable of splitting an ant in two from three hundred yards away.

Necromancer | Master of the undead and dark arts, you do not want to tick the Necromancer off.

Elementalist | The magical architect of fire, air, earth, and water. Basically, a raging pyro with a few other tricks as well. But come on… fire.

Guardian | This profession is hell-bent on protecting his mates, and he does it through causing pain to his enemies as well as warding his allies.

Thief | Fancy yourself a spry little pickpocket? Or do you just want to get all stabby on someone? This may be the class for you.

Engineer | Guns, traps, bombs… more guns. The engineer is all about the mechanics (literally) of battle.

Mesmer | A fan favorite, the Mesmer’s skills involve the manipulation and destruction of its enemies’ minds. He will make you think you’re on fire while you fight mirror images of him and watch him teleport across the battlefield in the blink of an eye.

RACES

Asura | Little, genius, and damned cute, the Asura are technological marvels with an passion for technology.

Charr | Primal, tribal, and obsessed with warring as a part of their main existence, the Charr are new allies to the people of Tyria… but ferocious ones at that.

Norn - These massive 9-foot tall Northerners value the spirits of nature more than anything else.

Sylvari | The Sylvari are a young botanical plant-like race, whose inquisitive nature has brought them to the forefront of the conflict in Tyria.

Human | The most widespread and influential race in Tyria, the Humans must work with all of the other races to ensure the safety and survival of Tyria.

Over the weekend I got my warrior to 80 as well (leveled to 73, finished to rest by maxing her weaponsmithing). Decked in her MF gear and ran her to Pentient path, but my heart is not in it to do endless zergfests.

I'm a little lost to what to do now. I don't PvP, I don't feel like zergfest MFing, and 100% map completion seems like so much work :P I picked up my engineer and necro again, but I seem to have burned out a little.

Before Vincetuous jumps in, I have no real interest in going back to WOW either, even bigger grindfest...

That's a strength of this game. If you get bored, you're not paying a monthly fee so you're not obligated to play a certain amount. I'd say playing a game for almost five months for a flat fee of $60 is pretty great. Put it down, play something else, then when they release new content or the GW2 itch hits again, pick it pack up.

Go back to WoW like I did this last week. You'll be itching to log back into GW2 as soon as possible.

Yar I totally got my $100+ (bought a bunch of gems for upgraded bank, slots, etc, hehe) out of the game, a great buy no matter what!

I need a new game until the new expansion!

I think I'll do some zone completions (no orr zones, ugh hate risen and the zones look so nasty) on my mesmer, love her a lot!

Or I will level my engineer. I like dual pistols more, but rifle goes better with power, which goes better with grenade/bombs. I think I need to be higher level (maybe 60 when I can get the juggernaunt trait?) before flamethrower will be more effective soloing.

I leveled my Mesmer some more over the weekend, quested, did some more story line. After I needed to take a break, I logged back into my level 80 Necro and completed Frostgorge.

After that, I queued up for WvW. Next thing I knew, I had been in WvW for nearly 3 hours.

I don't know why, but yesterday I had a blast in WvW.

I had a good weekend. I completed a 2nd set of exotic gear for my Engineer. This is power/cond/vitality gear to go along with the power/cond/mf gear set I had been using a lot in Orr. It took me two weekends to complete the Orr zones and farm up the Ancient Bones and Ectos needed. The events are a non-stop zergfest out there. I either got lucky on the Ectos or they buffed the chance for them.

Elementalist Runes are stupid expensive. I got my Necro back out and spent some time at the crafting table to level tailoring. Got it to over 300. I hope to have it maxed out this weekend.

I stumbled across a couple of jumping puzzles and a few chests this weekend as well. I just love it when I find stuff like this.

At a minimum do dailies on an alt you are leveling. get the easy karma, and easy XP... then log (don't waste dailies on a level 80 toon!)

Take a break from brute force leveling until Dec 14 when the new events comes into town.

As far as being burnt, I don't think playing just one game is ever healthy. right now I bounce back and forth between LoL + GW2... and soon it will be a trifecta with LoL + GW2 + Firefall... and I itch... but I don't itch for WoW, I itch for EVE

one of the biggest parts of GW2 endgame is making your toon pretty, which is totally optional. You can grind dungeons like Citadel of Flame or Fractals... the dungeons actually give a pretty cool experience, and looking cool afterwards is always a bonus

other ideas, expand bank slots to max, expand toon slots to max, store up on fine transmutation stone for future use, max out professions

So my plan was to get 252k karma (42k per piece x 6) and buy a whole set of karma armor. I'm mostly there (maybe already is, have a bunch more jars of karma in the bank).

The problem now is that it seems like all the temples are always under Risen or contention. How do people get to actually buy the armor? Transfer to another server for a day?

/map and ask where the zerg is

help them complete whatever they are doing, then start spamming /map for support to do whatever temple you need

don't they reset everything daily?

i usually just find the zerg, help them complete it sooner, then start forming a group to get done what I want

i forget the names of the temples, but 2 of the 3 get support very easily... melandur's temple or whatever it's called, is a bitch to complete and that one is the hardest to get support to do

Agreed. You have to check back from time to time and see what's not contested/lost. Weekend zergfest will usually free them up.

I'm assuming you know exactly what Karma pieces you want, but if not I found a website that listed them this weekend. Each temple offered stuff with different stats.

I prefer to craft my junk, so I'm not Karma focused, except for recipes. I can't seem to stay focused on the dailies, because there is just too much other shiny stuff around.

Oh! Look, a jumping puzzle...
