Ya we don't get to pick even tho timewarner is just down the road from like and by down the road i mean like 3 houses away we can't get it so it what little we get from WS or nothing.

Hey, if it's that close, why don't you offer to pay for the extra wire and the installation of it to bring it to your house.

QUESTION: is this as slow as dial up? how slow would it have to be -- to be able to truthfully say... "this is as slow as dial up."

This is not the worst one, but gives you the idea of how it is.

This is about the best I have got out of my 3MB connection in about 2-3 weeks.

@windstream.net
I just moved and got DSL service hooked up today. I ordered the 12 Meg service. This is not impressive. The test was performed just a few minutes ago. What the hell.

And *THIS* is the response to my BBB complaint:

"This letter acknowledges our receipt of the notice of the complaint *removed*, filed by *removed*. We look forward to addressing the customer's concerns and resolving this matter.

From the filings, we understand that the customer is inquiring about ongoing issues with Windstream internet service.

My office previously searched for the customers account with the telephone number he included in the complaint. We do apologize for that particular telephone number not allowing access to the account in question.

With respect to Windstream's response, our office has been advised that our highest level of Windstream Internet Support escalated this customer issue on July 13, 2012 and has been in contact with him to advise of the latency issues in his area.

Additionally, we are aware of internet traffic issues in *removed* area which may cause slower speeds, typically during peak usage times. We are committed to providing our customers with the best service possible and are working diligently to resolve these issues by installing new equipment and system upgrades.

Although we are providing 3Mb Speed Internet service to *removed* the service performance will vary based on factors such as computer memory, age of the computer, software and downloads on the computer, as well as other outside factors including, for example, the speed of the server of the websites being accessed and internet congestion.

We regret any inconvenience this matter may have caused *removed*. We do appreciate his business and look forward to continuing to be his communications service provider. Please feel free to contact me if you should have any additional questions or concerns."

They blow the same smoke up everyone's ass. This is Windstream's response to my BBB complaint from 09/19/2011.

"Windstream is in receipt of the complaint filed by *Removed*, regarding his broadband service. I appreciate the opportunity to address his concerns.

Although Windstream is providing 1.5M broadband service to *removed*, the actual performance will vary based on factors such as Mr. *removed* computer memory, age of his computer, software and downloads on his computer, as well as other outside factors including the speed of the server of the Web sites being accessed and internet congestion.

Additionally, Windstream is cognizant of ongoing internet traffic issues in Mr. *removed*'s area which can cause slower speeds, typically during peak usage times, and is committed to correcting these issues in order to provide our customers with the best service possible. For this reason, we are working as quickly as possible to resolve these issues by installing new equipment and system upgrades. At this time, we do not have an estimated completion date for the installation and upgrades.

Windstream apologizes for any inconvenience to *removed*. I assure you, we do appreciate his business and are making all efforts to improve our service to the citizens of Mt. Ida. I hope this assists in resolving your concern. If you have any questions or require any additional information, please feel free to contact me."

If I still had the CEO's email, Jeff Gardner, I'm at the point I'd go ahead and send him one.

The internet being unusable for half of the day and being told it'll be the end of December until it's fixed is a pretty bad solution.

Can legal action be taken against Windstream? I mean... we have a lot more issues than just slow internet when it comes to Windstream and we just may have a case. My girlfriend just got off the phone with a 'tech manager' and they denied our request to have a local tech come by to check on this issue in our house or the lines around our house. I didn't think they could deny a service request but the 'tech manager' certainly did.

Are there any lawyers in this forum or someone that is very up to date on consumer law?

Tech told me, they have no competition here and they have no qualms about overselling the DSL. When the tech tells you to look into a DSL card from Verizon and he works for WS what does that tell you?

Nothing like consistently getting 10% of the dsl you are paying for.
