 | [FireFox] Black Flashing Boxes I am currently using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.28 and running Windows 7. Every time I try to upgrade to the new version of Firefox, all I get is black flashing boxes. I've seen other people with the same problem, but so far, I haven't found a solution posted. Does anyone know what the problem is and if there is a fix? |

You may even want to find the directory from your User directory, and copy them somewhere else before installing the new one, so it starts 100% from scratch. |

You could also just download the version of Fx you want and install over the old one. -- "Paranoia, the destroyer" |

Went into safe mode, uninstalled FF and reinstalled. No luck. Still have black flashing boxes everywhere. However, FF works fine in safe mode but not when booted into normal windows. |

| If it works in Safe Mode, try updating video drivers. I had a similar problem with firefox favorites menu not redrawing the screen. Bits of the drop down box stayed on the screen. I have nVidia 630a video built in the motherboard. I got the latest drivers from nVidia and it fixed the problem.
I has previously updated the drivers from Microsoft and this had fixed a Photoshop issue. Luckily the latest nVidia drivers seem to fix eveything. |

| reply to wild_sky Then it sounds like your theme/extensions are causing a problem. Your profile is separate from the installation. Run the command "firefox -p" to load it with the profile manager, make a new profile, and it should work fine. You then need to figure out what was compatible with 3.6 was never compatible with newer versions.
There's also a chance you need to disable hardware acceleration in firefox connecting it to issue with your video drivers. -- I distrust those people who know so well what god wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires- Susan B.
