Port Orange, FL
[Services] AT&T DSL in Port Orange, FL
It has only recently become available here in our area. The BrightHouse cable has been terrible for a decade. The constant interruptions and low download/upload are frustrating, as is the price. This is representative of my test results x 20 with Cable here:
AT&T offers a package here that is half the price of our cable service. And includes a year of NFL sunday ticket free as well. It all sounds too good to be true, so my question is:
Is it too good to be true?
What sort of download and upload speeds does DSL in Port Orange, FL provide? Are there hidden fees? Caps? Overage charges?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume that you are getting AT&T DSL and DirecTV in a combination package as only DirecTV offers NFL Sunday Ticket.
AT&T has stated they have a nationwide 150GB monthly cap policy for DSL. The implementation and enforcement of the cap is not consistent nationwide. There is an overage fee of $10 per 50GB. If you go over the 150GB cap you get charged $10 for ANY amount of overage data up to 50GB. The next increment is another $10. There is a link to an account usage page »www.att.com/esupport/internet/us···2EFO957o that will either show the AT&T meter OR a message saying the meter is not activated and do not worry about usage.
The download and upload speeds should be specified when you sign up for service. According to the AT&T website Zipcode 32127 has all 4 levels of AT&T DSL service available depending on your exact address. 6Mbps down/ 512Kbps up, 3Mbps down/384Kbps up, 1.5Mbps down/256Kbps up, and 768Kbps down/128Kbps up.
AT&T is notorious for screwing up promotional rates. Review your bill carefully. My friend signed up and was charged for a modem that was supposed to be free. He also was charged in the second month the regular charge for DSL. This happened every other month for an entire year. He had to call and get the charges reduced and removed every other month.
Be advised that the two gateways presently offered are new and somewhat buggy in their first year in operation. The Motorola stand alone modem is fairly reliable. I would get the Motorola modem and buy my own WiFi equipped router.

Port Orange, FL
Should I take it as a good or a bad sign that after 6 months DSL in Port Orange, FL not one single review exists anyway....

It means nothing. This website theoretically should be filled with reviews of EPB Fiber in TN, LUS Fiber in LA, Monticello Fiber in MN, and other fiber ISPs. I see little of that occurring. A lot of people who get the new DSL service may be happy with it and never post here because they do not know this website exists. They may post their contentment on Facebook. Isn't that where we all are supposed to evaluate our life experiences with retail services?
