Using 2wire 2701 hg-g as switch

I have a 2wire 2701 hg-g from Bell that I no longer use since switching to cable. I am using a DIR-655 to route internet to all my computers. I was wondering if it is possible to connect the 2wire to the DIR-655 via ethernet and user the 2wire as an ethernet switch? If yes, could someone guide me in the right direction as to how to set it up. Thank you in advance.

All you need to do is disable the 2wire dhcp server

My 2wire has a dsl connection (that connectred to the phone line to get internet access). Do I need to utilize this connection or can I use the ethernet ports on the 2wire to connect to the dir655?

Can you give a more detailed explanation of how you want to use the 2wire and the dir655

Sure.
I have a cable modem that connects to a dir655 router via ethernet. I want to set up a powerline device between my dir655 and 2wire. The powerline will connect to the dir655 using an ethernet port and will connect to the 2wire using an ethernet port as well. But, I need the 2wire to only function as a switch so that I can use the remaining ethernet ports on the 2wire to connect to my PS3, and Boxee. I am trying to first set up the 2wire without the powerline adapters between the 2wire and the dir655 but I am stuck. Let me know if this isn't clear and I could sketch it out and upload an image.

Your explaination is good enough except that your other post mentions that the 2wire has a dsl/internet connection

You can use the 2wire as a ethernet switch by disabling it's dhcp server and it does not need to be connected to the dsl line

Hi,
One last question. I diabled the DHCP server and I cannot access the configuration pages of the 2wire by connecting to it. Is there a way to access that page now?

Manually set the computers tcp/ip info to
ip address 192.168.1.63
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.1.254

If you need to access the 2wire configuration pages frequently change the 2wire ip address to a unique ip in the subnet of the dir655
